[while it still strikes Dohalim as astounded that Zhongli was... is(?) basically a god, he's glad that he could relate to him on this sort of level. and, while not fully knowing the extent of Zhongli's powers and just how he'd been able to go undercover to talk to the people, Dohalim finds himself just a little envious that he was able to do so.
not that it matters much to him, anymore, considering that he isn't a lord anymore, and that his companions back on Dahna could care less of his former station. honestly, it's better that way. he'd always disliked the hierarchal structure all Renans adhered to. it was, and still is, an unnecessary disparity between the classes.
but maybe that's what he doesn't mind about being in Nippon. as much as he itches to get back home, to finish what he'd set out to do, to end the Crown Contest and the suffering of both Renans and Dahnans who are shackled to its vicious cycle, the fact that he can just be himself, just Dohalim, is a welcome thought.
(though, he does have to push away the thoughts of the atrocities he'd committed against Xhilde, and by extension, against Zhongli himself; he's still trying to accept the man's forgiveness.)
he takes another sip of his wine before speaking again]
Forgive me if I feel my character is tainted with the sins I've committed. You may have forgiven me, but I still cannot forgive myself. We were asked to let go of our regrets, but it seems like I still hold onto them.
