I grew up in a place we call The Avenue. My family name known to most anyone with enough magic reserves to have power in our society. I'd planned to follow in my father's footsteps...

I suppose, suffice to say I grew up with anything I could want delivered to me at the snap of my fingers.

( It's helping, slowly, the pressure relieving itself word by word as she winds out the story. Something she's only ever told to Aisling, and even then, never in so much detail. )

Then the Avenue began to change. Families around us started to speak of Alexapro. It seemed like nothing until they began attending meetings, donating money and magic to this group. People changed. Friends I'd known since I was a girl would only talk of this new world order Alexapro would bring. Even my ex...

( That one hurt. They may not have been together, but she did still care for him, and watching him consumed with this feverish devotion to an idea which came out of nowhere left Thea aching. )

When my father came home, suggesting that we attend a meeting, I... I knew nothing good could come of it. But no one would listen. So I ran.

( She lifts her hand as she finishes speaking. Her chest feels light, free of the curse which had plagued her, replaced by tears pricking at her eyes and rolling down her cheeks. )
