Even with their ears covered the sound was still scary. Pete couldn't blame them for flinching and one of them letting out a little scream. But he held them tight to his chest until his husband gave the clear. Then he ducked his head under the jacket and tapped them. When they looked up with tears in their eyes, he gave them both big smiles.

"Okay. Let's get you home to your grandpa. Close your eyes and then count to ten. Can you do that for me?"

Once he had a nod and they started counting, he put one on each hip then immediately carried them out of the office so they'd never see the bodies. Looking to Vegas, he nodded. His husband was going to have to be protection duty because his arms were full but he knew he could trust him.

Then he proceeded to start making friends with the scared girls as they walked, finding out all the things that made them happy. Their favorite colors, what they liked to do for fun... One would never know that he'd just helped to slaughter half the people in that building to save these girls.
