Open - Ayakashi Curse

⌛ Who: Riley and whoever comes across him
⌛ What: Riley has been cursed by a stalker ayakashi! Now he's terrified!
⌛ When: Until he's cured and after he's moved into his new home
⌛ Where: Various locations
⌛ Warnings: Riley has a lot of trauma involving being stalked and hurt and people around him being hurt. That's sure to come out here.

A. Cursed!

Coming home late wasn't unusual for Riley. Even with their new residence being in a more unsavory location that didn't stop him from his usual pathway. So it wasn't any surprise that he was out late carrying a bag of new books and sweets on his way home. It was all fine and totally like he always experienced. Well until he realized that he saw something out of the corner of his eye.

Pausing, he stared into the distance then swallowed and started to move again. There was someone behind him. He was sure of it. His heart raced faster and faster until suddenly he found himself running and rushing for his home. Anyone who saw him would see a terrified looking young man with blond hair who kept looking behind him...

B. Paranoia

He kept trying to tell himself no one was there. He did. But every time he went anywhere he was sure someone was chasing him. It was the Fae all over again and while he was in a crowded street he suddenly took off running. There were tears in his eyes as he ran full tilt into someone. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

Panicked, he looked behind him but couldn't see anyone. But he knew they were there!

"I'm sorry!" He just didn't know what else to say...

C. Cure

His adopted family decided that the best way to help their little brother was with a party. That meant that they had dragged him to Pete's and, for a change, someone had shoved alcohol into his hand. At first he was too nervous to drink it, likely even needing encouragement from his loved ones. He just kept looking around like he was convinced someone in the bar was going to get him.

But after that drink suddenly he was sloshed and giggling. Someone chasing him? What was that? Falling out of his seat at one point, he blinked then laughed again as he tried to start the second glass he'd been given. (Yes, only one drink had gotten him wasted. Just Fae things.) Seeing someone come over, he'd grin and wave his drink around without a care that he was spilling it everywhere.

Getting Riley drunk? Apparently that was the cure.

He moves slowly and deliberately, explaining everything he's doing as he removes his tie to wrap around Riley's eyes. Then, when that's done, he keeps the young man tucked up against his side until they can reach the 'office' of the hotel. It still needed cabinets and a desk, but it was still pretty naked. And Kinn turns on all of the lights.

"Okay, I've diminished as much as I can with the shadows and turned all the lights on. I'm going to take the blind fold off if you want and we can figure out what's happening." He pauses for a moment. "This isn't one of those weird Nippon things, is it? Like the flying pigs? Or the apples?"

"Can...can you close the blinds on the windows too?" It felt so silly to ask that but standing there blindfolded, he didn't want to have the tie taken off and then suddenly see something at the window. Already it felt like that was definitely what he was going to see. A shadowy figure right at there waiting for him. Ready to reach out and...

"Please..."

He couldn't even think to answer the other question yet.

Again, Kinn explains everything in that calm, collected voice-after he enfolds Riley in a strong embrace, reminding him that there is nothing in this room that can hurt him. Once he has everything ready, he goes to Riley, announcing his intent first to remove the blindfold.

"Feeling okay?" Kinn slips into the chair beside him.

Riley was so grateful to Kinn for telling him what he was doing as he was doing it. Including having him sit and even telling him he was removing the blindfold. Immediately, his eyes darted to the window. But because they were closed he couldn't see the shadow. Swallowing, he brought his legs up and wrapped his arms around them.

"I'm so scared. I haven't been this scared since the Fae started chasing me."

Xie likes to keep an eye on things - usually from rooftops - when he isn't pretending to be a regular resident of Jikan. Riley's hair grabs his attention and his tail flicks, the barbed tip free from the ice tip. He senses...fear...from the other man. But what has caused it?

Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, he nimbly lands behind his boyfriend, a knife barely concealed by his sleeve.

"A-Ley?"

Crying out at someone being behind him when he was already sure someone was, Riley actually fell over clutching his bag to him. But as soon as he realized it was his boyfriend, he was scrambling to his feet to fling himself at Xie instead. As scared as he was, Xie was safe. His boyfriend would protect him.

"S-someone...someone's following..." He even pointed wildly behind Xie. However once the man turned he'd find there was no one there.

Xie catches Riley with one arm, careful to shield him from his weapons. Narrowing his eyes, he looks behind them too, placing himself firmly between Riley and...whatever might be in pursuit.

"I'm here. If they try anything, I will kill them." he hugs Riley to his side, "Don't be scared."

"I know, Nong. It's scary. But we've made the room as safe as possible, right? The blinds are closed, the lights are all on, and I've barred the door. At first, I thought they had shown up. I was scared for you."

He's had practice with his brother on this. Panic attacks weren't the greatest. "And even though it's scary, we're working through it. Because it's okay to be scared, but not be paralyzed. We can still do this. So no one gave you anything to eat or drink, so this probably isn't a drug like the Uki. Maybe an event like the festival that took over the western kingdom? Something strange is happening on the east side?"

"I don't know who it is. But they won't stop following me." He whispered the words now, like he was scared of his stalker hearing them. Yet there still didn't seem to be anyone there for Xie. Even as Riley gasped and hid his face against his boyfriend when he was sure he saw the shadow come closer.

Listening to Kinn, he tried to think through things. It was so hard for him to tell though but it would make sense that it would be the magics of this place. Uncertain, Riley slid his gaze over to the man. Not because he didn't trust him but because he really needed to hear it again from someone that he did trust.

"You really didn't see anyone?"

"Let's get you home." Xie looks for a second time and then offers to hold Riley's bags for him, "I think this city is playing tricks on you, love. It does that."

Magic is...like that, unfortunately. He has played dirty tricks similar to this on his foes. A unhinged mind is usually weaker.

"Focus on me." he smiles sweetly, "My pipa returned to me."

He smiles. "I don't see anyone. It's just you and me in this room. But I believe you that something is making you terrified. We just need to find a way to fix it."

The issue is what was this place playing at this time? "Do you want me to call for anyone? More heads in the game means we have more people to watch over you just in case."

Just in case this wasn't a Nippon thing and truly a Fae thing.

Tricks? It was a trick? But it felt so real? He knew that shadow was there and that... Giving his heavy bag of books to Xie, one of his hands came to cling to his robes while he let his boyfriend lead him.

"...It did?" He at least tried to keep up with the new conversation.

Shadows don't frighten scorpions. His tail remains poised as they walk, ready to strike - clearly not happy despite Xie's light tone.

"It did. I didn't think I would ever see it again." he shifts the bag to his opposite hand so he can rest a hand on Riley's waist, "You're with a manticore, my A-Ley. You're safe."

Okay. Kinn really hadn't seen anyone. That meant he was probably the only one seeing it so it could just be magic playing with his head. Only it felt...so real. Like there was definitely someone right outside that window just waiting for the blinds to be lifted. And when they did it would rush him and hurt him.

So Riley nodded. More heads would help and he'd trust Kinn to know who to call. "Xie got me home," he murmured at least to let his brother know that one of his boyfriends already knew.

"Can I listen to you play sometime?" Even though he knew he was safe, he still jumped when he thought he saw the figure again. But this time he jumped closer to Xie, trusting his boyfriend to protect him no matter what.

"It must be pretty." It was hard to talk about something else but he was really trying.

"I would be upset if you didn't." Xie answers that jump with a kiss to Riley's forehead, keeping their pace quick but steady. He trusts in his abilities - getting Riley home is more for his lover's peace of mind.

"It's shaped like a scorpion. The babies might be confused." he shifts the topic to one he knows Riley likes, "They will wonder if they should have strings too!"

Dark eyes kept darting around. He was sure he'd see the shadow one place and then another. How was it always there? Either right ahead or right behind them? It didn't make any logical sense to him.

"They haven't seen it yet?"

"Do you want me to call him back?" Kinn was all for giving Riley safety and comfort. "Will? Vegas? You know any of us would drop everything and help you."

Just like they dropped everything to help the bone-setter even though Kinn was still injured and in pain.

"Mm no. They were resting when it appeared." Xie murmurs, following Riley's gaze just to be sure.

But he sees nothing. His poor A-Ley. He snuggles him closer and glares at anyone who dares to look their way on the street.

"Anyone. Maybe more eyes will see something... Or confirm that you're right." He shivered a little and hugged his knees tighter as he stared at Kinn a moment.

"I want you to keep being right."

There were definitely people who were staring at them because of how Riley was reacting. Though they quickly stopped once Xie glared at them. It was a look they well understood was not to be messed with.

"...when we get there could you look around the property while I run inside? Just to be safe? Please?" Because he fully trusted Xie to check every single shadow to make sure there were no people hiding in them.

"Of course." Xie rubs over Riley's back and guides him directly to the front door of his home. He then hands over the bags and kisses his temple.

"Get inside. I'll meet you once I've checked. Make sure you close your windows."

And if the shadows are seen in Riley's rooms, well, they will simply have to keep everything well lit.

Nodding, he ran inside where he'd run into Kinn. But after his brother had taken care of him in the office he'd be found in his own room with all the lights on and all the windows closed. Just his legs up and his arms wrapped around them. He wasn't sure where Will was, maybe out somewhere. But when he'd knocked on the door that connected their rooms he hadn't heard him.

So he waited for Xie instead.

Every shadow, every sound is investigated and Xie leaves a few nasty surprises if someone is lurking in the bushes, for example. Then he returns to Riley, letting himself in and closing the doors firmly behind him.

"I didn't find anyone, but I left a few traps." he walks up to his poor lover and kneels down in front of him, "No one will hurt you."

If this is the Fae, plenty of people know to strike and ask questions later.
