Henry was unaware of Riley's inability to deal with alcohol. And having a drink was a common way to calm people down in his time. So it was him there pressing an alcoholic beverage into his friend's hands. He'd been watching everyone trying to cheer him up and calm him down and that seemed like the thing to do. He did, however, remember that Riley liked sweets so at least it was a sweet drink.
