May | Event: Looking for Love

Looking For Love OOC Plotting
Minimize
The month of love is in full swing! But there are some who are probably wondering: why is May the month of love, and why only in the West? Over in Tokyo, no such celebrations are being made, and even the Hanyo of Shitaya aren't gunning up for any major festivals of any sort, despite most of them having come from the West. But it's not because it's a new holiday. Rather, it's simply a Yokai specific one.

Because traditionally, May is the period where a Yokai's sex drive is the strongest. And while for most, this simply manifests as a desire for deep, emotional connections, for others, it's a month-long orgyfest.

Perhaps this doesn't sound too relevant to the non-Yokai refugees. But as the refugees have been quick to learn, there's still more to their Kizuna bond with Nippon than they've experienced so far.

The Season of Sex

Towards the middle of the month, refugees are sure to notice a change in the way the Yokai are behaving, particularly the group known as the "beast Yokai", which includes Kitsune, Bakeneko, and Inu Yokai. As it turns out, these three are the only sentient Yokai who still occasionally undergo a heat-like event, with most of these falling around the month of May.

But what does this have to do with the refugees? As many of them will quickly find out: they also will experience a heat-like state through the rest of the month. Upon contacting the scientists, they unfortunately won't have an explanation. But a working theory seems to suggest that because the Yokai were the indigenous people of Nippon, bonding with Nippon may have caused the refugees to become part Yokai in a way that differs from the native Hanyo. This is why they're able to use magic, and why many of them grow Yokai body parts when experiencing high levels of Kizuna.

"Oh, don't worry your pretty little heads! Most of us don't even notice when it happens. It's just something embarrassing they teach in schools. But we'll explain it all, just in case. We've never seen anything like you before... anything is possible!"

As the Yokai researchers explain, heats have become less common in the modern era, so it's entirely possible that some refugees won't experience anything at all. Feel free to use this to opt out of anything that makes you uncomfortable!

You All Know What This Event Is About Maryouku University, Kyoto
When a Yokai goes into heat, they tend to adopt one of three characteristics, known collectively as KSJ. Although most Yokai will always lean more heavily towards one in particular, some may experience all three throughout their heat:

Daikoh (大攻) causes Yokai to develop unusually dominant and possessive tendencies. While some may search for a single partner to keep to themself, others may try to gather as many partners as possible. Even passive and friendly Yokai may become inclined towards violence or unusual roughness, including marking their partners. Some may experience an inexplicable desire for passionate romance, while others may feel a desire to breed.

Daishoku (大食) causes Yokai to give off a magic aura that may trigger a heat in those around them. These Yokai are insatiable, seeking endless pleasure from anything and everything they can find, be it food, entertainment, or sex. It's not uncommon for them to have one thing in particular they become fixated on, though others may simply desire everything. They may even find it hard to sleep without some kind of stimulation to calm them down.

Daijuu (大受) causes Yokai to develop unusually submissive and needy tendencies. They crave physical affection to such a powerful degree that going without it may even become painful. It's not uncommon for these Yokai to only feel comfortable when wrapped up in a nest of blankets to simulate being wrapped in the arms of a lover. They may feel a strong desire to be cared for by another, or even impregnated by a mate, regardless of gender.

Obviously any of these would be pretty inconvenient, but perhaps the worst part is they can strike at any time. One might simply wake up in heat, while another may find themselves suddenly overwhelmed upon seeing a familiar face. And the truly unfortunate may find it happening in public, or even on a long train ride.

While most heats tend to be very mild, often to the point where one might not even realize they're going through one, some Yokai have the misfortune of going through an extreme heat. Here, the effects of KSJ becomes far more pronounced, even to the point of appearing to have a complete personality shift. Daishoku Yokai may fuck until they pass out, Daikoh Yokai may peruse individuals they would never otherwise be interested in, and Daijuu Yokai have been known to crawl into the beds of strangers to satisfy their need to be held. Heats can be as brief as a few hours, or as long as a few weeks, with varying levels of severity throughout. While most only occur once a year, you're free to utilize heats as a Severe Kizuna Effects at any time!

With a Bang! Naniwa, Osaka
On the 25th, all refugees will be extended an invitation to an exclusive party being thrown by the Emperor himself in the city of Osaka. Taking place at one of his private villas in the former Naniwa Palace, refugees will be met with an extravagant affair in an older retrofitted castle, filled with Humans and Yokai alike. During the day, there's no shortage of entertainment, along with free food and drinks to go around, and a large outdoor garden to relax in. But at night, the mood of the party shifts dramatically. After a full day of pheromones tickling their senses, and no shortage of uki to go around, it was time for the main event: an orgy to celebrate the season of love.

The main room of the villa itself is designed with an array of sliding doors that can become walls to quickly close off corners for an illusion of privacy, as well as private and secret rooms for those who desire it. In the upper floors, rooms filled with all sorts of enchanted toys and costumes can be found, in addition to a small outdoor bathing area. And in the basement, there's what can only be called a sex dungeon, filled with all sorts of restraints and gear for whatever one's heart desires.

Any guests who stick around for the orgy will be asked to select from a number of colorful kanzashi they'll pin into their hair to convey what they're looking for:

Pink: Platonic, non-sexual physical affection only.
Red: Bondage, restraints, and sadomasochism.
Yellow: Open to kink negotiation or discussion.
Orange: Toys, magic or supernatural powers during sex, transformations.
Green: Costumes and sexual role play.
Blue: Powerplay, light blue for submissive, dark blue for dominant.
Purple: Public use, anonymous sex, exhibitionism.
Gold: Open to anything and everything.
Silver: No physical contact, watching only.

Outside of the Purple and Gold ribbons, all kanzashi are imbued with a spell that will sound a loud alarm if they person wearing it is touched in a manner they didn't consent to, upon which the one who activated it may find themselves thrown into the cold waters of the pond in the garden out front. Refugees are free to take as few or as many kanzashi as they desire, or swap them out as the evening grows long.

An Eclectic City

While everyone is dealing with the season in their own way, those hoping to explore the West even more may find themselves drawn towards the city of Osaka. Similar to Kanto's Yokohama, Osaka is a major port city that happens to be famous for its eclectic mix of peoples and culture. Here in Osaka, Humans and Yokai live in a blended society, making it an easy place for most refugees to explore without standing out too much.

Not that they'd be able to do so regardless, as Osaka is also known to be one of the most unique cities in Nippon, with colorful buildings and eccentric displays giving off a strong sense of Osaka's unique blend of cultures.

Magical Shopping Arcade Shinsaibashi Dotonbori, Osaka
Located in the heart of downtown Osaka is the shopping arcade Shinsaibashi, located in Dotobori. Comprised of a long strip of shops and restaurants nestled in an alley between buildings, this well-lit shopping arcade is among the busiest in Nippon, with visitors walking shoulder to shoulder along a sea of people. But it's definitely worth it, for all the unique shops one can find!

One such shop may be of interest to the refugees tired of fundoshi: a lingerie shop selling curiously modern underwear. Supposedly the work on a single woman's desire for the perfect undergarment, they were developed over the course of nearly eight consecutive time loops. While some natives seem a bit scandalized, the shop itself is pretty popular. Better shop while you can! And yes, they'll let you try the lingerie on. They might even insist!

Elsewhere, refugees looking for a bite to eat may stumble across a certain yakiniku restaurant. Offering both all you can eat and all you can drink for an additional fee, this place lets customers grill their own meat and vegetables on a small cooker in the center of the table. But while most of the fair is pretty normal, there are few more suspicious offerings on the menu, including a very expensive option simply labeled "meat". For some reason, they'll refuse to serve this dish to human customers. But everything else is pretty good! Just-- don't order the dodongo steak. You'll be chewing it for over an hour.

But by far, one of the best sights to see in Shinsaibashi is the Ebisu bridge. Straddling the Dotonbori Canal, this bridge is a popular pick-up spot for dates, especially given the sheer number of famous restaurants and theaters surrounding it. Take in the sights of the neon lights reflecting off the water, then enjoy a nice dinner date with your sweetie!

Looking For Trouble Shinsaibashi, Osaka
While Osakans are typically known for their laid-back attitudes, Osaka still isn't without its rougher areas. While the Port Market in Yokohama may have monopoly on organized crime in the East, over in the West, dozens of powerful Yakuza families reign over the city's underworld. One such group, a relatively new gang that sprang up after the time loop ended, has been causing no small amount of trouble in the usually peaceful streets of Osaka, starting turf wars in broad daylight, and even an incident where an entire train filled with passengers was held hostage.

In the hopes of putting a stop to their games before anyone else gets killed, the local Samurai guards have put out bulletins with wanted posters for the known gang members. Bounties are listed for each, ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yen per person. A handful are promising up to a million yen for their capture!

But there's a catch, of course. Members must be brought in alive and relatively unharmed. And while this may not seem like too tall an order for many of the refugees, the reason these gang members are so dangerous is because of their magic. Known as Puppeteers, a single one of these Yokai can take control of an entire crowd, manipulating their bodies like puppets on strings. Friends become foe against their will, with even their abilities completely under the Puppeteers control.

Taking even one of them on will be difficult. But with bounty like that, for some, it just might be worth it.

Characters will only be able to catch one high-level bounty. Please be realistic with whether your character would be able to catch one of the million-yen Puppeteers. There are no limits on how many small bounty gang members they turn in, though keep in mind there are no more than fifty total.

The World of Tomorrow

No matter who the refugees ask, there's one place that every person in Osaka is sure to recommend they check out: Shinsekai. And it's no mystery why: the entire area is set up as though it were part of a theme park. And a curiously futuristic one! But there's a reason for that: unlike the rest of Nippon, the land that Shinsekai sits upon stopped experiencing time loops roughly twenty time loops ago. While the people who lived there were still affected by the loops, the land around them wand as the one place in the West where significant technological progress was allowed to be made.

Because of this, the locals eventually decided it would be easier if the land was simply separated from everything else, and as such it grew into its strange appearance it has today. While some locals consider the area to be a little creepy, or too much like the East given it's extensive use of magi-tech, for those looking for something a little different, they're sure to find it in Shinsekai!

Gacha Pet Naniwa, Osaka
One of the most notable things about Shinsekai is the overabundance of neon signs. As a result, the entire district lights up at night -- which is good, because many of the businesses are open late!

One of the focal points of Shinsekai is Tsutenkaku Tower, a large steel tower overlooking much of Osaka. For a small feel, guests can ride up on an elevator to the top of the tower, from which they'll be able to see the entirety of Osaka. On the top floor is a sight that many people from modern Japan may not have realized they missed: vending machines selling all sorts of things can be found at the top, as well as scattered throughout the district.

One machine brews a fresh cup of tea. Another pops some kernels of popcorn. And another, which seems to be the most popular, spits out one of a number of mysterious cocoons. Instructions indicate that you must keep the cocoon warm by holding it against your bare skin, and if you can hold it long enough, it'll hatch into a tiny creature. For most people, the moment it hatches, it'll fly away. But those who kept the cocoon warm by holding it against their chest will be rewarded with a new pet Luna Batmoth, a popular pet in the West.

There's plenty more than just that and some food, of course. But honestly, the less said about the mystery dildo vending machine, the better.

Mirror Image Naniwa, Osaka
Of course, while Shinsekai isn't technically a theme park, it looks enough like one that someone, at some point, thought it needed a few rides. There's a wooden roller coaster filled with signs warning you to ride at your own risk, due to cars veering off the track on certain turns. And also a spinning ride shaped like a giant Daruma!

But most people may find the Fun House to be of more interest. Despite its name, locals refer to it as a Haunted House, as much of the technology used to create the uncanny effects has seemingly been lost to time. The attraction opens with a maze filled with mirrors. Those who enter with a group will find one person in their group replaced by a mirror image of themselves. This mirror image will behave exactly the opposite of the one whose likeness they've captured. While typically the mirror image will disappear once everyone as left the maze, there have been reports of it following the group up until they've left the Fun House altogether, though no one knows exactly what it really is. Those who were replaced will seemingly be trapped wandering in the maze of mirrors until the copy leaves.

Past the mirrors is a long hallways filled with conveyor belts that push and pull those who try walking through it in different directions. Safety regulations are seemingly nonexistent here, so it's no wonder this section is sometimes called the Black and Blue Corridor. But those who make it beyond that are rewarded with a Hall of Mirrors. Unlike the maze earlier, these mirrors contain a strange type of spell that the present owners have yet to replicate.

Those who look into the mirror will see an image of themself from the future. Whether this be a distant future, their future back home, or something more immediate like what they'll be wearing in a few days is seemingly random. While there's been no attempt to try and prove whether these are accurate predictions, it's sure to be a little spooky.

OOC Notes
Welcome to Jikan's May event! Please direct any questions to the Question Thread in the OOC Plotting post.
• As with all Kizuna effects, you are free to opt out of any of the KSJ effects as well, or simply utilize the ones you are interested in. A Daijuu yokai could simply desire being held, with no sexual or breeding-related connotations, for example.

• Players are welcome to handwave their character sleeping with the Emperor himself at the orgy, but don't expect him to remember their name the next day.

• Should your character kill one of the wanted gang members, they'll need to hide their crime, much like they would if they committed murder, even in self-defense. They may also need to worry about being targeted by that gang in the future whenever they visit Osaka. Simply turning one in to the Samurai guards will not result in this.

• As the mirror copy takes the place of the other character, they cannot exist in the same place at once. The copy will not leave the fun house, and character will have no memory of what the copy did while they were gone, other than being very lost in the mirror maze. Whether the real character appears in the copy's reflection is up to you!

[NO. HOLD UP. NO TIME FOR SMALL TALK.]

Did you have a hole in your head too?
[THE WAY SHE JUST TALKED MADE IT SOUND LIKE SHE DID? AND SHE UNDERSTOOD HIS NONSENSE ABOUT THE WIND?????? HE HAS NEVER BEEN SO FOCUSED AND ALERT IN HIS LIFE.]
getstoned: (Cause I can't say it back)

I didn't say specifically my head, it's more like...

[ Pulling back some, she opens that robe a little more to expose herself and starts to create a pretty sizable hole in her abdomen. ]

The biggest task with this is rearranging your organs, but it comes in handy.

[Disappointed it wasn't in her head but FASCINATED with her hole making powers????? Just staring for a long moment... Cool...]

There's nothing like magic or anything where I'm from so I'm not used to cool abilities like that. But thank you for showing me. You really understand holes...
[DOES SHE?]

Honestly I didn't know about anything like this ability until I went to prison.

[ She smiles, allowing that hole to fill in all over again before looking at him thoughtfully. ]

I feel like it was plain ol' luck that I learned to do something like that at the moment I did. My ability is kind of abstract, so I'd been using it in other ways.

But I'm curious, how did you manage to avoid hitting anything important when you got your hole?

[PRISON... wow they really are two peas in a pod! (No.)]

Well, I guess you and I are alike, because I think it was pure luck for me too. It's not like I aimed anywhere in particular when I drilled it.
[Did Jolyne know he drilled it himself? Well she does now.]

You should try one in your head sometime! You could have one the same as mine.
[SHE COULD NOT BECAUSE THERE'S BONES AND BRAIN IN THE WAY, FUKUDA.]
