⌛ Who: Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue
⌛ What: Waking after healing
⌛ When: Now...ish?
⌛ Where: Xichen's apartment
⌛ Warnings: Mentions of looming death...will update if more happens
Finding Nie Mingjue in such a poor state had been a shock to be sure. But he'd figured out a way to heal him...he thinks. He has to believe it, and checking the other's qi frequently helps reassure him he's right. The levels he feels are lower than they should be, low, and chaotic. But better than the horrible levels they'd been before.
He's content to alternate which instrument he plays to help encourage more healing - Liebing, and his guqin, for hours every day, using his own qi to strengthen his fingers and make such a feat possible. Guilt nags at his heart, but it's better than before. He'd given his bed over to the other man's rest, Mingjue needs it infinitely more. He's playing Liebing, seated at Mingjue's feet, and his eyes are closed when he senses rustling bed clothes.
He hardly dares to believe it when he forces weary eyes to open and look hopefully at one of the men he loves so fiercely, hoping to see those eyes open without that horrible redness.

Subconsciously he felt those fingers at his wrist, hears the music. Even if it sounds far away. Further, then it should. His own mind doing everything to keep a grasp on the familiarity of it. It wasn't the very thing that had harmed him before, but different.
His body felt like a heavy weight even as he moves, eyes opening to take in the apartment he was in. Nothing that looked familiar, at least not until those half opened eyes catch the man down towards his feet. Xichen would have to give him a minute. His body was rebelling against him, so talking would take a moment.
However, there's no redness to those eyes. Even if they're not fully opened yet.

"I have some water, can you drink some for me?" And broth, but that's secondary.
"Wangji made some soup, and broth." He keeps his voice low and calm, despite the relief that floods him. He's been so worried!
no subject
He gives a gruff sound and a nod to the water, letting Xichen help him sit up. The water is taken and drank," Where?" It comes out a bit hoarse and gruffer than usual. Also, if there were any threats around... His anger was known to rise at anything, but he only saw himself and Xichen in the room. No one else, which has him relaxing slightly.

"The locals call this place Nippon, Japan. We are safe, Da Ge. Wangji is standing guard outside just in case." Because they're all a little paranoid when in such a strange place. Even Xichen, though more because there are precious people here he does not want hurt.
"Would you try some broth for me?" They needed to get Mingjue's strength back up.
no subject
So, they were quite a bit away from home. Even hearing that Lan Wangji was standing guard outside didn't quell the paranoia. Not his own, at any rate. If the Twin Jades were there then who else was. He was going to try not to worry too much over it, especially after just waking.
"For you." Xichen knew that Mingjue would give him anything. Even something as simple as this. "How long has it been?" Since he was found.
no subject
How long? He doesn't immediately answer, more because time hasn't been something he's paid close attention to since finding Mingjue. He thinks back to each time his brother had brought him food, and each time Wangji had coaxed him to rest or bathe.
"About a week," he eventually decides. "Wangji and I have been here a few days longer before I found you."
no subject
He notices the lack of answer but doesn't comment. Not at first, at any rate. He does, however, drink the broth. It isn't too much and he manages to drink it down just fine.
"Where did you find me exactly?"
He only vaguely remembers showing up in this place.
no subject
He takes the empty mug back and sets it aside, then offers more water.
"I was in one of the places of healing when they brought you in. I intervened and brought you here." He knew Mingjue wouldn't have been nearly so cooperative for strangers. Which meant he wouldn't have tried to heal nearly so well.
"I do not know where they found you."
no subject
"And they just let you?" There's a gruff hint of amusement in his tone even as he leans back against the pillows, taking the offered water. Something cold that soothed his throat. It was probably a good thing that Xichen had intervened.
He gives a nod at the statement," It doesn't matter." It didn't matter where they found him, Xichen was here now. He was safe. He'd make sure to keep it that way too.
no subject
The question has him smile and his gaze drops as he murmurs, "I'm afraid I did not give them much choice, Da Ge." He has more confidence in Mingjue's hand being steady enough to drinking now, so sits back a little and a hand drops back to one of Mingjue's wrists.
"No. You are here now and healing well."
no subject
"What exactly did you do?"
He drinks his water and listens, giving a nod. He would re-gain his strength. That would be far easier to do with Xichen there with him.
"Have you learned anything else out about this place?"
no subject
"I picked you up and left." Lan Xichen doesn't look like he'd be strong enough, and yet he undeniably is. "I did mention that if your treatment required more than I was able to provide I would let them know."
Obviously he hadn't had to stoop to that level.
"Wei Wuxian, and daozhangs Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen are here beside the three of us." To comment on who Mingjue would know, or know of. "What do you remember of coming here?"
no subject
"I'm sure the Lan strength threw them off."
Especially when Lan Xichen does not look like he'd be up a man like him. He was glad that the other hadn't needed to stoop to that level, it wouldn't have gone well.
"So there's six of us." At the question, however, he frowns and shakes his head," I don't, actually."
no subject
"It is good to have you back," he says instead. He'd do anything to keep this man safe and sane and well. So yes, his hand remains on Mingjue's wrist, keeping an eye on that pulse and flow of energy.
"We are all taken from our worlds as time loops in on itself. We're all asked to form bonds with each other," his lips quirk a little and he glances pointedly at where they touch. "In order to gather up enough energy to fix what was broken. This world, or reality, is called Nippon, in a country known as Japan."
no subject
He's sure there would be other familiar faces once he actively left Xichen's bed. Even if he was rather content right where he was. He doesn't, however, say anything to the hand on his wrist. Not when he knows what his love is doing.
"I didn't realize we were meant to form something we've had for years," he states simply. Though, he does listen to that last part of it. "So, we are here until the place is fixed then?" If it meant more time with Lan Xichen, he would take it.
no subject
He lets his smile soften at that. "So we'll have an easier time in strengthening it, and showing just what energy we can produce." Yes. Yes he did have to say it just like that.
He hums. "From the sound of it, yes. It will take a good amount of time though." Not that he minds anymore. Not when he has one of his loves, and his brother here with him.
no subject
There's amusement in Mingjue's eyes," Is that what we're showing them? The amount of energy we can produce." Lans were, after all, known for their stamina. Not that the world needed to know that.
"Then we will do what it takes to help them." He doesn't mind. He wasn't in the middle of qi deviation and one of the people he loved the most was right there. He does, however, watch the other for a moment.
"Sleep properly next time."
no subject
Xichen chuckles softly, suddenly, at his love's teasing question. "We have hardly started." Mingjue still has some healing and resting to do before they can really start!
He allows himself to lean in to press a kiss to Mingjue's forehead. "After you are recovered," he fondly chides. Only for the scold to make him smile and shake his head. "Now that you have woken properly, I can." He'd been a bit too worried and frantic to care for himself more than the barest effort, and only then because his brother had stepped in and forced the issue.
"Are you still hungry?"
no subject
The question is a light tease, even as he eases at the kiss to his forehead. That chiding really does nothing to him, but it warms him anyway. He knows how much the other cares for him so he wouldn't change anything.
"No, I'm not. I'll eat more once you've relaxed some."
no subject
"As you wish," he teases softly back.
Xichen can't resist the fond smile as care is directed right back at him. He gently squeezes the wrist he holds, then lets go to stand and put Liebing away. Then he removes his outer layers so he can rest. He's not shy with this man, though only his forehead ribbon remains in place, along with thin trousers and tunic by the time he returns to the bed.
He climbs in under the blankets and settles against his love. Forgive him, Mingjue, if he wraps his arms and legs around you and rests his cheek over your heart.
no subject
Those eyes watch the routine, in a way, that Xichen has for himself. It wasn't the Lan hour, so he doesn't expect the forehead ribbon to come off anyway. That will happen much later when they lay down to sleep through the night.
The moment that Xichen is settled, he wraps an arm around him to keep him close and fingers thread through his hair. He was content like this and it shows when he relaxes and closes his eyes, listening to Xichen's breathing.
no subject
No, it's not time for actual sleep yet. And normally he wouldn't even nap. But it's been a long week, and he's weary enough to nap for a couple hours. Feeling that arm curl around him like that draws a shaky breath before he relaxes. He'd been so scared for this love of his, for years, that now he has him back...a moment of weakness is to be expected.
Those fingers through his hair help ease the fear and he lets his eyes close and his mind drift. It's even testament to his exhaustion that he slips off to sleep fairly soon after.
