⌛ Who: Baku and Bakugou
⌛ What: New friends cooking and and hanging out and chilling.
⌛ When: The afternoon after this conversation.
⌛ Where: Bakugou's apartment at Nihonbashi.
⌛ Warnings: Cursing from Bakugou, anything else will be updated.
[Bakugou had sent Baku a list of ingredients earlier that day, including some of the hottest spices he could think of, and then he got to work in ensuring he had all of the needed supplies on hand. He wouldn't need much, neither soba nor udon were very challenging, but he's a perfectionist and he wants to do this right.
He's more excited to cook again for someone than he let on before. He's not good with words, but he can care for people using actions, and cooking for someone helps lessen the worst of his homesickness. He misses the stupid dorm parties he took for granted, or making lunch for him and his friends while grumbling about it the entire time. He's looking forward to doing something similar with his new...friend. He has friends here.
Even if most of his friends weren't dream eaters. It's certainly not the weirdest fact he's learned since he arrived here. He's not that normal himself anyway, and she didn't seem to take his prickly behavior personally. Maybe it would be easier than it had been in the past. Or maybe he'd just yell at her while they ate.]

She follows the directions for the address and pauses at the door, out of habit, to smooth out her kimono and her hair. Too much time living as a human makes one develop habits one normally wouldn't care about, and her appearance is one of them. She likes looking cute - it's why she picked this form.
She knocks, then picks up the bag and hums to herself as she waits]
no subject
You got all the shit?
no subject
I did. And tea and drinks, if you don't like one or the other.
no subject
Tea is fine, everything can go there.
[He wasn't an avid tea drinker, but he liked drinking it sometimes. He kept his apartment clean, though there were some notes and what looked like grenades in the living space that he walks back into, grabbing a ball of string and grinning at Baku.]
I didn't forget.
no subject
I can't believe you actually did it! I'll even transform to make it authentic.
[. . . they'd probably have to go outside but y'know, small sacrifices to be made in the name of science]
no subject
It'll be a lot less weird if you do- you got extra?
[He's just noticing the extra ingredients. He likes cooking, so it will make his job more interesting, but he hopes she didn't spend too much for him. He hates owing friends.]
no subject
[look at that you don't have to owe her nothing]
no subject
[It's Bakugou for they're good, better than he was expecting. He seems to relax a little, his mood brightening as he immediately gets to work. It's clear he's used to doing this, but he's missed cooking for a friend.]
Make yourself at home or whatever, just don't get in my way.
no subject
I won't, I won't.
no subject
[He doesn't particularly care, he'll eat either and luckily neither takes very long to prepare. It might just take a bit longer to cook both, considering he has limited cooking utensils and he hasn't had a chance to buy more yet.
He can feel her eyes on him, but he doesn't mind being watched. He knows he's good at this, but unlike training and using his quirk, cooking doesn't have the same kind of burden of expectations he places on himself. It's fun, so if she likes watching he won't say anything (probably).]
no subject
Is there anything I can do to help? Or would you rather I stay out of the way.
no subject
[He smirks over at her as he begins to heat up the vegetables and spices, their aroma wafting through the small space of his apartment.]
Hah? You already helped out. It's my turn.
no subject
[Baku says as her tastebuds aren't in danger.
(they're not)
She hums aa little and shrugs, and she knows her manners or else she'd just drape on the counter] If you say so.
no subject
[Bakugou barks back, taking on the cooking with an aggressive and focused zeal. It doesn't take long before the soba is cooking, steam from the boiling water warming up the small space. A few minutes later and Bakugou finishes, bringing two bowls of the spicy dish over to the table, along with two sets of chopsticks.]
Sit down. What drink did you want?
no subject
[she's seen her friends cook - or well, microwave things mostly, but even then this was impressive. She takes a seat and tilts her head in thought, then:]
Water's fine. Or whatever you decide to have. I'm not very picky.
no subject
[Bakugou scoffs, even pouring her water and his drink aggressively as he scowls at the liquid. She's less demanding than several of his classmates, so he's enjoyed it so far even if his expression says otherwise.]
I made it as spicy as I could!!!
[He wants to impress her.]
no subject
Ahh, I'm really excited to try it now.
[she means that. She picks up the chopsticks] May I?
no subject
You say that now, but wait until your tastebuds are being murdered to death!
[He shrugs and nods, trying not to appear as if he cares about her reaction, even though he does. He considers himself a good cook, but this is different from cooking for his classmates. Most of them don't have any taste.] Go for it.
no subject
[it's time to try this death food. She takes a bite, head tilting - her tastebuds are weird, since human food is certainly not her usual fare, but - her eyes slowly widen and it's a genuine reaction. She takes another bite, looking both confused and intrigued]
I can tell it's hot.
[no shit Baku he said it was gonna murder you]
no subject
Well. She certainly has a reaction, though he isn't sure if it's a positive one yet and he tries not to look disappointed or frustrated.]
Just hot? It should be explosively scorching your mouth in flavor! I added in all the spices I could without sacrificing flavor!!!
[Should he have added more spices? Has he finally met someone with strong enough tastebuds to withstand his cooking?]
no subject
I usually can't tell. That it's hot, I mean. I don't have human tastebuds, so some things don't - come across? Like spicy food.
But I can taste it here. It's really good.
no subject
He's unaware of the bright gold stars that seem to glitter in his hair, betraying him, and finally leans back to take a bite. He chews on it thoughtfully and finishes before he responds.]
I can cook for you more often. If you like it. I'm gonna have to cook for myself anyway, might as well share with someone who has some real taste.
no subject
Even if it's cute. Yep, she's keeping this human, too]
I'd love to eat more of your cooking if it's all going to taste like this. [she smiles, small but completely genuine] It deserves to be appreciated.
sorry some rl stuff came up!
[Forget the stars, Bakugou is beaming now, practically radiating with pride. He's confident in his cooking and to have someone recognize that is nice.
Pleased, he begins to eat his own food.]
I ain't gonna say no to a polite guest. I'll make it even better next time.
no worries! <3
Yes this one is hers, back off gods and other creatures, dibs]
I don't doubt that. You take a lot of pride in this, don't you? It shows.
no subject
I don't do anything I don't want to do, but I like cooking so I don't half-ass it. When I lived by myself a lot of the time, I was cooking for myself, but when everyone moved into the dorms I started making stuff for my classmates too. But most of 'em have killed their tastebuds with shitty food, so it ain't really the same.

[is . . . is that something that happens in other world's public schools??]
no subject
[And All for One, but Bakugou doesn't like talking about him.
He shrugs and takes a particularly large bite of the delicious noodles, continuing after he finishes.]
It's a pain in the ass, but that's why I'm going to kill them.
no subject
She purses her lips, reaching for her drink] It sounds like a pain in the ass. I hope you succeed, when it comes to the more dangerous ones.
no subject
I'll succeed- We'll succeed and murder him together. I'm getting stronger every day, the losers are in for a painful wakeup call. But you're right, they're a huge fucking pain in the ass.
[He takes a sip of his drink.]
no subject
[she doesn't seem concerned, at least. In fact - she seems entirely unbothered beyond her curiosity]
It's a thin line, but it sounds more like you plan on enacting justice than committing murder.
no subject
[...He actually doesn't have an answer for that. Normally, he'd follow the rules and expectations that were part of his world, but when it came to people like Shigaraki, especially Shigaraki, he had already taken too many lives and intended to take even more. Bakugou wasn't one to be merciful normally, but especially not when it came to threats like him.
He stares at Baku quietly, still stunned, before he looks down at his food and grunts.]
Yeah. Some people may not see it that way, but someone's gotta do the dirty work.
no subject
[the voice of experience. she calmly sits back and takes a sip of her drink, humming a little thoughtfully. It's a little sad, that humans as young as Bakugou have to do that sort of thing, but that's how it used to be, isn't it? Age is just a number in the end]
no subject
[There are other reasons; there's someone he has to protect and make up to, but it's easier to give a more flippant reason like that.
He stares absentmindedly at the table, finishing off his noodles.]
I might grab seconds, you want anything?
no subject
Not right now - but thank you. I feel like I should take my time with this. That's what you're supposed to do, right? When trying someone's cooking.
no subject
It's refreshing to cook for someone who has some fucking manners.
[Returning with more soba, he sits back down and doesn't eat just yet.]
What were you doing before you got here?
no subject
[sometimes, when it's people who she feels are worth trying for]
Specifically or in general? [she pauses to take a bite of food] There's a problem in the human realm of my world that I was helping out with. Depending on how you look at it, I was either fixing it or making it worse.
no subject
What kind of fucking problem are ya able to make worse and better at the same time? [He looks up from his food skeptically.]
no subject
The short answer is, humans aren't supposed to know we exist but more of them are being born with - mm, abilities that allow them to know we are real. Like mediums or psychics. Part of my job is dealing with them, because they technically pose a threat to us.
I'm making it worse by finding them and offering them help, rather than sealing their powers away.
no subject
[Bakugou grumbles before shoveling a mouthful of noodles into his mouth, chewing on them as he stares at Baku incredulously. After he's done he leans against the table with his chin in his palm.]
Won't that just make shit harder for yourself?
no subject
[she huffs, resting her chin on her hands] I don't think it would make things harder. I think it would make them easier.
no subject
Easier how? [He takes a long sip of his drink, pausing in thought.] So you can eat our dreams and shit? Or is there another reason?
no subject
[she faintly shakes her head] We continue living because humans believe we do. But it's been so long since we were allowed to openly interact with them that they've stopped thinking we exist. And it's - mm, dramatic, but it's a death sentence.
So, if they know we're real . . . [a shrug] I don't really care what happens to me, but there's others who don't deserve that fate.
no subject
[He slams his palms on the table, his anger boiling over.]
Besides, maybe you don't give a shit if you live or not, but I'd be pissed if you died.
no subject
As much as I want to have say, it isn't like that just yet. That's why I'm doing what I'm doing.
[she smiles, small but genuine] I won't die that easily. I'm stubborn.
no subject
I'm not surprised. But I'm glad I won't have to kill you for getting yourself killed.
