So stop time right here in the moonlight [semi-open]
⌛ Who: Kamisato Ayaka, Kaedehara Kazuha, semi-open
⌛ What: Surprise! It's her birthday!
⌛ When: 9/28 or thereabouts
⌛ Where: Uji, some surrounding areas
⌛ Warnings: None so far!
1. Morning/afternoon; Preparation [open]
[Admittedly, Ayaka hadn't had any plans to go out on her birthday. With the entirety of everything that had happened of late, it just seemed... too hectic, somehow.
But perhaps, she thought, it was just that reason she felt compelled to leave her dwelling when she'd realised exactly what the date was here. The fact that it was perhaps not the clearest connection to the timeframe she'd come from was... irrelevant, in the end.
What is relevant is that the young woman has made a decision on where she'd like to spend her night, and left messages with Kazuha and Aether, at the least, to let them know where to find her if she should be needed. That little bit of work done, Ayaka takes to the streets.
She's dressed as normal, both fitting in and a little out of place in the scenery of Nippon as a whole. Every step is confident, despite the fact that she makes stops with no particular pace in mind. If anything, Ayaka makes one particular stop: at a clothing shop, where she intends to pick up a comfortable kimono. One can hardly spend one's whole life in a single outfit, after all!
Other shops one might find her in include anywhere that might sell fans, jewelry or sweets. Anytime after the kimono shop, people can find her wearing an elegant white and pink kimono.]
2. Challenge Mode: The Train [closed to Kaedehara Kazuha]
[A lot of the morning (at least, after the embarrassingly long time it had taken to type out a message on the little handheld device) had been a game of waiting for a reply from Kazuha and... well, frankly? Avoiding the challenge of the underground train. The more time she could spend in the sun, the better.
The procrastination can't last forever, though. So, dressed in her new kimono and with her hair pulled up into a simple bun, Ayaka shifts her weight as she waits for Kazuha. Does she look uncomfortable? Out of place? Much of the confidence of her earlier travels has diminished, leaving her as just a young woman who is, perhaps, harboring a bit of trepidation at the concept of using the train. It's funny - it hasn't been even a month yet since she'd arrived in Nippon, but there's a weight that feels lifted, a curtain drawn away from her senses.
Here, after all, she's what she always wanted to be. Here, she is just a girl, trying to get a foothold in a new land. There's no sense of responsibility past her own. For a moment, even, a small smile plays at her face as she wonders if this was what it was like for her mother. For "Tsubaki," was it also difficult to shed everything she knew and simply... be?]
3. Wildcard
[If you'd like to do something with Ayaka for her birthday, whether brief during a break in her time with Kazuha or somewhere I haven't mentioned between the morning and the train ride, hmu at any of my usual contacts to plot with me!]

Wildcards u, what time during the day is this? We just don't know
[In any case, while Ayaka didn't mention a specific place, nor specifically that she wanted to meet up, it seemed like a fair enough assumption. Why else mention it? And it's not like she'd be hard to find, her looks distinct enough that he doesn't have to ask around too much to find her. There's a park not too far from the train station, filled with trees that have all begun turning color for the fall season. And somehow, he manages to find her alone, after Kazuha briefly left
to hit up his uki dealer probably I don't know his life.]And here I was about to call and ask where you were! I guess I'm still pretty good at finding people.
it's just the right time, magic
Certainly, she looks up when she hears Aether's voice, but the surprise on her face is quite plain. She looks a little less formal out of her armour, at least?]
Aether! Hello, I didn't expect to see you here. [Her hand rests over her heart for a moment as she speaks, a soft smile breaking across her lips.] Did I forget something before I left, or did you need something...?
no subject
[It's certainly different seeing her out of her usual armor, but then, so is Aether. While he still has pieces of his usual outfit on here and there, the base has been switched out for something more suited for life in Nippon, wearing hakama and with a haori over his shoulders.]
[...but his shirt is still rolled up to be a crop top, he's gotta show off the abs at all times okay.]
So what brings you over here? Sightseeing?
no subject
[She's quite happy to see him, even if she'd ended up offering her time to Kazuha first. And she thinks he looks good in his new clothes, even if it's almost... scandalous to see him with his shirt rolled up like that. Really, Aether is such a creature of habit sometimes...]
Well... sort of. It's my birthday, and... ah. It feels a little silly to say it now, but it's been a tradition since I was much younger, in Inazuma. Though it isn't quite the same as viewing the moon near the great Sakura, I found myself feeling a little... nostalgic.
no subject
[His expression looks perhaps a bit more surprised than she might expect, but-- then it quickly relaxes into a smile. What a coincidence.]
Well, happy birthday! If I had known that, I would have gotten you a gift.
[And it might have been like a legitimate gift instead of some weird slime concoction that Paimon dreamed up.]
But I don't think that sounds silly at all. What better time for sticking to family traditions than the anniversary of when you were born?
no subject
I didn't want to make a big affair of it, after all. A comfortable evening out on my own is a pleasant birthday itself, don't you think?
[Her smile is wan and light, head tilting as he speaks.]
You do have a point. It highlights some of the things I miss, but... I have no real complaints. Besides, you've come to visit me as well, so I'm quite lucky.
wanders up
He doesn't like the trains much either; he'd judged them to be noisy machines, that while useful for getting from one point to another, eliminated all the pleasure from travel. He'd get on a train for Ayaka's sake though, but not without some trepidation.
He isn't one to be late, despite his usual carefree nature. Kazuha doesn't leave Ayaka waiting long, his familiar, small form visible coming up the road before he comes within earshot of her. He waves, a big, beaming smile on his face.]
Ayaka-sama!
[Kazuha looks a little more formal that he usually presents. At the very least, he has his haori pulled onto both arms and the decoration actually clipped between both edges. His usual hakama shorts have been put aside for hakama that reaches down to his ankles, and his hair is pinned up in a simple bun as well, tiny maple clips holding his hair tight. Just a few simple adjustments and he looks like a proper lord.]
I hope you weren't waiting long. I had to run a few errands before making my way here.
ohai
[he looks good, she thinks, a little more formal but not oddly so. it's a little tempting to step forward just to touch, to adjust little things that barely need adjust.]
Not at all. It gave me time to orient myself to the location, in any case, and the... idea of using this method of travel.
[a little wryness settles on her expression at the mention of it, but it's quickly replaced with pleasant happiness at her company.]
I can't imagine you care much for them either. I'm sorry there doesn't seem to be another way to get there...
