November Catch-All

Who: Lan Xichen and ota
What: November shenanigans
When: November
Where: All over
Warnings: Any that crop up will go into a thread's subject line as needed. Otherwise nothing!

Dragon
In various parks, or flying overhead some evenings or early morning, there can be seen a white dragon with silver and black scales and hair dotting the sinewy spine. Elegant. Slender. Slipping through the air or water - even playing, sometimes. Other times, it's down on the ground, curled up for a noon nap.

Clinic
At least by helping out around various clinics, Xichen feels he can give good care. Especially with those who prefer less of the 'modern' medicine that he doesn't fully trust. He's not hurting for patients, either!

Checking in on people
Chances are, if someone knows Lan Xichen, they can expect a visit from him. Bringing them tea, or medicine depending on their relation or needs. And music may well follow in addition. The later in the month the visit is, the more white scales creep up his neck and the sides of his face, leading into delicate horns that also grow a little more each day.

Wildcard! If you want to have a scene with Xichen, here's your prompt! Or message me here, or [plurk.com profile] fireduck for plotting.

When Lan Xichen does show up at the Jin household, Yanli is attending to the garden. Something that she enjoys doing. Besides, if she did it then she knows it would be fine. The elder of the Jade twins gets a soft smile and despite where she's at a slight bow. Even in this place one could still have a bit of decorum to them.

"Zewu-Jun." If she does note anything different about him, she doesn't comment on it.

Was she well? Physically, she was fine. Mentally was a whole other story. She had her brothers and her son there with her, but her husband was no longer there. It was a lot to take in, if she was being honest.

"Better than you first initially saw me, yes. How have you been doing?"

"Of course."

She gives him a small smile and stands from where she'd been sitting in the garden. Though, she doubts that the elder Jade would care where it was they sat for tea.

"Do you wish to stay out here or go inside?"

Yanli would give him that option, at least, before needing to go clean up a little.

It's not unexpected to get a visit from Lan Xichen. Huaisang has a lot of complicated feelings with regards to him but he manages to keep those in check. They might show in flickers in his eyes and expression but he masks it just as quickly.

Now, they're having tea.

"Er ge... I need your help with something."

For one reason or another Huaisang hasn't brought up the future. Perhaps, it's just too painful. Maybe he likes having this person back, the one who hadn't been completely blind yet.

"I want to start a business but I need some help."

He could probably do it alone but it's so much easier to get people to do some of the work for you isn't it?

"I was thinking of a store that sells art, paper...fans," Huaisang says, almost a bit shyly. If he had mentioned this to Mingjue he'd expect to be told to focus on his training but Xichen might actually encourage and help him.

Huaisang's fingers trace the wood of the fan, finely carved in his hands and then opens it, fanning himself lightly and trying for an air of complete nonchalance. But there are times with his brother, with Xichen that he feels like his younger self and not the lonely hidden vengeful puppeteer he had been for the last decade.

"I don't really know how one starts such a thing...and I thought you might be better suited for helping me figure out than me," he says -- in other words, he wants to delegate the logistics and stuff he finds boring onto someone else.

He remembers the times past where they were meet for tea went he conferences were winding to a close and speak about absolutely nothing that was of remote importance. He was there when Mingjue was going mad and when Guangyao seemed to be putting Xichen in a thrall. Cheng's own problems were a toddler, then a youth. He never said anything specifically about sect issues during that time-Cheng bore that alone.

It was good to keep up with the tradition, he thought. It kept the connection of home close to him. But Jiang Cheng had another reason for this interaction and he couldn't kept the anxiety completely from his face.

He knew he was no good at hiding things like this. The worry had been a palpable thing for him for some time and eventually his imagination won out. When Xichen asks him directly, he ducks his head like a sullen child being caught snitching sweets. "I was in the bathhouse a while back," he started softly, almost mumbling.

Shit, this sounded...it sounded bad, even to his own ears! He could feel his face flush. "I heard someone comment something about me. About spots." He couldn't bear to look Xichen in the face as he spoke. "I ... didn't hear it well, but I thought I heard Lepresy." Which. Well. It was bad! And this time, he looked up.

"I can't manage to turn and see for myself, though." And to be honest, didn't want to look in a mirror, either. And even if he had, that wouldn't change the fact that he was diseased and now his body parts were going to fall off!

Cheng's expression shifted into something complicated. He hadn't expected retribution or disgust from the other, yet he also didn't think that he was... Of course, Xichen would have agreed to help! It was just...

"Yes, of course." Being the magic of this world...was that not a little like leprosy anyway? What were the long-term effects of this place, anyway? Was everyone eventually going to turn into an animal of some sort? And then what happened? Did everyone lose their human minds and succumb to the animal they became? That was just as terrifying as the wasting disease, he thought. He didn't want to lose his sense of self.

The thought was sobering as he finished his tea and waited for directions on where he should go for this exam.

The changes he had experienced here were wide and varied and so complex that he still didn't know how to process it all. He was still at a loss on how to handle the indescribable need to be close to Huaisang, and at the same time, he dare not breathe it to the one other person closest to Huaisang's brother. He still wasn't convinced that it was simply the magic of the place enhancing previous emotions.

What if Wen Qing suddenly showed up? How could he manage to exist then? How could he balance the feelings of two, one recognized and most recently indulged upon and the other still a wisp of aged regret and a puff of dream?

"Not...anything I think is directly pertaining to this." Cheng readily offered his wrist, used to examinations and doctoring. Discussing emotions was a completely different thing he would rather not be forced to contemplate.

Once the preliminaries were done, Cheng nods, moving back away from the table. He makes quick work of loosening the ties and taking the three layers of his robes down to hang at his waist while he turns around. Xichen didn't need to see the scar from the Golden Core transfer or fainter scars from when he had been captured by the Wens. On his back and tricep areas were the spots. Rosettes of tan and black and highlights of white, speckling the areas Cheng couldn't easily see. While the lines looked crisp, to the touch they felt more velvety, like fine, sleek fur, and it was something that would make Cheng straighten up and dance away suddenly for the strangeness of the sensation.
