[Indeed, it was already starting to break through the ice with an angry roar and another bellow of fire. Keeping the ice in a solid state tended to take more effort than simply forming it and using it on the go. Ice was just as fragile as it was strong, after all.]

I can try and use ice to get to its mouth, but it'll just breathe fire and melt it.

[Just like it was doing now to the barrier. It would have to be quick, but the icicle would need to be thick to last long enough to reach the lizard considering he wasn't keen on getting so close to it where it would fry him before he even got the ice going.]
