He's grown to really love Kyoto. Kyoto is still different than Narukami— autumn still finds it, things change, unlike the Eternity of Inazuma. As autumn is in full swing and the trees have been raining their red leaves for weeks now, the sight makes him more homesick, more lonely, mired in saudade.
Kazuha tucks one leg under the other, comfortable on the tiles of the high roof, out of sight of windows. Up here the birds are his only companions, and as he eats a bag of nuts and seeds, sometimes he picks out some of the best seeds— big sunflower seeds —and shells it for any bird that might be brave enough to approach.]

The rattle pigeons take flight and scatter. A curiously deep violet eye is leveled at Kazuha and that bag, wings flapped once preceding a hop, head canted.
Almost as though that oddly colored sparrow is asking some question. ]

An ayakashi, maybe? Kazuha has seen black birds around the city, like small sentinels watching people go by. He's spent some time watching them himself, from his perching high up in trees or on buildings. He feels a lot of kin with birds-- from their joyful songs and freedom to go wherever they please.
He laughs a little. He supposes the drive to get what they want is shared too.]
It seems you've earned these.
[He sets the seeds out on his palm, outstretching his hand to the sparrow so that it can take them from him with ease. Hopefully he doesn't end up cursed?]

She waits a few seconds as if being traditionally polite, canting her head in observation of the offered seeds this way and that. Her tail feathers are shaken just so as she hops forward once, twice, then flutters her wings in closing the gap. She turns her eye up at him for a moment more than any normal bird might, then accepts the offered seed with equally unusual care taken to avoid pecking his bare hand.
She chirps happily, something unusually like a song. Or is it unusual? She's no ordinary sparrow as far as he knows. ]

There's an intelligence behind those eyes that sets her apart from the other birds around, though Kazuha has had little experience with yosuzume. He smiles at her, his eyes briefly closing with the softness of it, and he keeps his hand steady for her to select more seeds from.]
That's a lovely song. Would you sing more?
