I. Starry Night - Pond

Times like this were peaceful for him. When he could stand at the edge of a pond like this and see the stars in the sky as well as the reflection of the water. It reminded him so much of quieter times before everything had changed in his life. When he was just the Night Immortal with his Dream Beast at his side. Before all the pain and suffering...so much caused by his own hand.

Embracing his element, he stepped forth onto the water, walking across the surface with only soft ripples following. Soon the dragon was several feet away from the shore and just looking up at the sky above him. He smiled softly as he did, a breeze softly stirring his hair.

Hearing someone behind him, he looked over his shoulder to see who had joined him.


II. Starry Night - Daytime Stalls

Curious about the stalls that appeared for the meteor shower, Runyu visited them during the day. The food looked good but he wasn't hungry and ignored it for the most part. The trinkets though? These had his attention. Little toys and hair pins and other accessories. He couldn't help but to smile as he looked them over, sometimes picking them up to inspect them before setting them aside.

It was like he was looking for just the right thing. Which was honestly true. He was looking for little gifts for his loved ones. Something special to give to them. They never asked for that but it still felt like something he wanted to do all the same.

Lifting up a pin, he hummed softly then looked at the person next to him. "What do you think?"


III. Starry Night - Meteor Shower

Once all the lights were out, he moved to where he could have a good view of the sky. The shower was stunning, much like the ones he would provide the Mortal Realm in the past. It brought a smile to his lips to watch it happen. "...beautiful."

Near him he heard whispers of which on the rainbow tails. For a second he considered it then shook is head as he looked to the sky again. There was nothing he wanted to wish for. Nothing that he felt he could deserve to wish for. It was better that all that remained in his own world. Unless he wanted to wish for Xufeng's happiness which he already knew his brother would have in the end with Jinmi and those beautiful children.

So, he was just content to watch instead. "I wonder who controls the night sky here..."

"Air and water are tied closely together and considered one in the same to be called water. Yin. So it makes sense that you are close to it." Which meant it would be Yang that would bring this dragon harm. Much like himself. It was nice to have that connection honestly.

The question though... Runyu frowned softly then shook his head. "I may not be the best one to speak to of having a family in the sense we speak of. For me it was always a complicated matter that only grew more so as time passed and things were revealed to me."

As inexperienced as Longyan was in emotional matters, even he could tell that Runyu disliked the inquiry. Family seemed to be complicated. Maybe he was better off on his own? What was loneliness if you never knew the joy of company? And Longyan had always been independent.

"There are two other immortals I speak to on a regular basis. And a Bluebird - who is actually a demon. Otherwise my castle is empty."

"Sometimes our families are not the ones we are born to but instead the ones that we make our own." That was what he'd learned here especially. And it held such meaning to him as well.

Looking at the dragon, he studied him for a moment. "You are an Immortal then?"

If that was true, his family was strange. Was the Lord of Death really one of his kin? What about the Fate Immortal? Longyan needed to acquire happier, livelier company.

"I am the Dragon King." he stated proudly, "Once I pass the heavenly tribulations, I will be the Immortal of Dragon. I have only one more test to endure."

Technically, as he was, he was immortal. What he sought was to reign supreme among dragon immortals.

Runyu looked surprised and confused. So this was a dragon who had not yet become Immortal? Yet he didn't appear to be...an Elf or Fairy. Was there another thing that happened in that world.

"One does not need to pass tribulations to achieve the status of Immortal where I come from. You are born a little Fairy child and as you build your energies you are able to become an Immortal. Of course, it is not something all can achieve since it takes a great amount of power but that is how it works in my world."

[longyan]

"I am a demon." if that helps explain anything, "Demons come in many shapes and sizes; their power varies too. I have not met my match in that regard and so the heavens test me to see if I am worthy of a new title." one that allows him to reign over all other dragons, "I have the power."

His words might be taken for pride - and an overabundance of it - yet Longyan has proven himself.

Runyu's eyes widened in understanding now. It made sense. This was much like the mortal who had been granted Immortality. There was likely more to the story but at least he understood better now and nodded with a smile. He didn't even react to the pride displayed, enjoying it too much to offer correction.

"I know many of them actually. Where I come from they reside in the Demonic Realm and have their own rule."

"Just one realm?" Longyan pouts at being so contained! Being shut out of heaven is bad enough, but he absolutely refuses to be left in some dark, dreary place. He flies where he likes - for the most part - and enjoys the activity of the mortals below. Even if some of them see him as a monster and a threat.

"Do they visit mortals? I do that when I get bored."

"Typically it is considered best to not visit the mortals unless you are able to blend in. There are many who find it a dull experience to be among them and others who find intrigue in it. Among Immortals and Demons. As well as the Fairy and Elf."

He truly didn't have as strong an opinion as some. Then again, he couldn't indulge as much as others in his own world. Not with his punishment. Of course he still went down at times to visit the children of Jinmi and his brother but that was all these days. He didn't deserve more.

No, he tended to do more of that here really. "But yes. They have a vast realm that they rule over."
