We'll have to find a better place then. How long does it usually last?

[His had just sort of... stayed. It was a little strange combing his hair. But hey, maybe he should just have Rude comb his hair for him.
If these things were because of their partner's fantasies, maybe Reno was a more fickle guy than Rude and he'd have to put up with changes coming and going.]

Never timed it before.

[It could be a few hours to even a day or two. He wasn't sure what triggered it, how or why, but it was just... there.

But he'd also heard that they were in the part of the world where these bonds were strongest. Maybe that had something to do with why it showed up again? Rude could only make guesses.]

You're not afraid of it?

What would I be scared of?

[He shrugged. Rude didn't seem hurt or anything, so he didn't really mind.]

More than that, I wanna know what they're like. I've never had scales, and these [He pointed to his ears] just sort of feel like other things usually do. I mean, it's kind of nice... [He did like being pet.] But it's not like there's anything weird about it when they're touched.

[Scared had been the wrong word to use. But he was a little puzzled by what Reno meant. Rude didn't think there was a way he could transfer his scales over...

Bringing attention to those ears again, Rude smiled faintly and had to resist the urge to reach up and touch them again.]

And these are weird?

[Or was it the slight sensitivity that was weird? Maybe it was just the location of the scales this time that was causing the sensitivity?]

You said we should go somewhere else? My room is close by.

Awesome, let's go there!

[He said as he started walking, assuming the direction.]

On a person this stuff is kind of weird. I never even wondered about it before, but now that you have them, I can't help but think, "What's that like?" It's the kind of thing you'd normally never get to ask, 'cause it's not like a lizard would tell you.

[Reno had an option of two directions and, luckily, he'd picked the right one.

Amused, Rude followed behind him for a little while, intending to grab him once they reached the inn he was staying in.]

So it's weird... [A line like that could easily have made a lesser man feel self-conscious. And maybe it did make Rude wonder why Reno even wanted to touch it if it was so strange. But he wouldn't say anything, he would let Reno be the judge.]

It's just up here.

[He'd reached out to grab Reno's shoulder and pointed with his fan toward a building to the right.]

Doesn't weird just mean interesting? Normal stuff's boring.

[He readjusted his direction at Rude's command, going along with it easily as if Rude shifted him around all the time.]

I always thought scales would be... dry, or something. Like cracked skin maybe? I don't know. But they don't hurt?

[Not necessarily, but Rude would let it slide.

He stepped past Reno to open the door to the rundown looking building. The second they were inside it was immediately cooler, and up he stairs they went. Rude wouldn't need his fan anymore.]

They don't hurt exactly... They're flexible enough to move when I move. And they're not rough.

[They were smoother than he would have thought they should be. Maybe Reno was right, they were weird.]

That's cool. I wouldn't have thought it by the way it looks, but I guess that makes sense. It's not like lizards and snakes and stuff are sitting around paralyzed.

[He took a second to fan the cool air onto himself.]

I think we should experiment! See what they do in water and if lotion is good on them and stuff.

[Rude just looked over his shoulder and gave Reno a look, hidden as it was, but plainly questioned his partners sanity.]

Nothing happens in water. Why would you put lotion on them?

I'm not a science experiment, Reno.

[A shake of his head and Rude carried on the stairs to the second floor where his room was. He pushed open the door, sighing at how cool it was there too. Whatever magic they used to do it was very good magic indeed.]

Just wondering if it was like, waterproof. And cause it seems like lotion would probably feel nice!

[Reno was just following random thoughts that popped in his head. After all, he didn't have any scales on him, so he could only go by what he thought might sound good.]

Like getting a back massage. You always use oils and crud for that.

[The door closed behind them and he placed his hands on his hips, leaning forward.]

So can I check it out now?

Oh...

[He hadn't thought about that. At least one of those questions he could actually answer.]

They're waterproof.

[As for lotion or oils, he hadn't really bothered with anything like that. But the way Reno was looking at him made him feel... just a tiny bit awkward. That didn't stop him from removing his shirt though. Reno wanted to look so he would get the chance to look.

As the shirt came off it was quickly evident that the scales weren't just a small patch. They were scattered from hips hip up his side and, should you look at his back, right up to his shoulder blade. And should his pants be removed they also reached halfway down his thigh. It wasn't a solid block of scales either, but patches that snaked their way across his skin in an almost beautiful, shimmering way.]

[He shifted his weight around on his feet, examining Rude here and there and everywhere as he walked around him.]

You look so fucking cool. Way more intimidating than what I got.

[He placed a hand on Rude's back, fingers trailing along the pattern of scales.]

It's kind of pretty in a way. Like a really well-done tattoo.

[Rude raised his arm so that Reno could get a better look as he circled him. He could feel the hand on his back, the scales didn't hinder that in the slightest.]

So long as it stays as it is.

[Getting these all over his body was just going to be a bother more than not.

However it did please him to know Reno wasn't repulsed and found them interesting enough. Rude couldn't quite hide his little smile.]

It's Grade-A badass, man.

[Of course, he tended to be pretty positive toward Rude. One of his good attributes was how much he genuinely liked the people around him, and that led him to view them pretty positively. Even more so with Rude, who he seemed to be a cheerleader for half the time.]

Does my hand feel like it normally feels?

[As if trying to see, he brushed his hand down the scales to the small if his back, and then started over at the shoulder again.]

[There was no real way for him to hide the shiver that ran down his spine following the path of Reno's hand. Rude breathed in slowly, his eyes falling closed.

Did it feel normal? Not in a million years. But trying to describe how it felt was going to be tough.]

Like I said before, they're more sensitive. Some of them. But I can feel your hand. Especially the heat.

[He leaned in close... and nipped the back of Rude's neck. Warm lips, hot breath, grazing over him for a second. Just because. He was exposed and vulnerable right now.]

You don't have to hide cool stuff like that from me, you know. [It hadn't escaped him that this wasn't the first time it happened, but it was the first time he saw it. After the swift kiss, he pressed the entirety of his front against Rude's back. It was a different feel for sure. Normally Rude's skin was a mixture - hard because of the well-cared for muscles underneath, sometimes rough due to abuse from work, and other places soft like regular human skin. Now, it was a bit like flexible armor.

Reno wasn't a picky guy, though. He was open-minded to new things.]

[There was the sound of a little hiss when he was nipped, but Rude didn't move, he didn't pull away. He trusted Reno and, if he was honest, he did like what he was doing. But then his lips twitched into a smile and his eyes opened so that he could turn his head and look over his shoulder.]

I wasn't sure what it was. Curse or not. If it went away, there was no point in mentioning it. It came back so I've mentioned it.

[He trailed off when Reno pressed himself against his back. Another worry he'd had was that the scales could hurt him. Be too sharp or rough. But when Reno pressed up to them he'd find they were cool and smooth so long as you rubbed them the right way.]
