So they'd taken myth and legend and turned it into a drug. Xue Qianxun watched calmly, not at all suspicious. Rather he was curious about the line of questioning. "Why do you ask about it?"

Why, indeed. Kexing stopped grinding the herbs, but pointedly didn't look at his friend. "I used to have... let's call them 'fits' due to the Meng Po soup. If things reminded me too much of my past."

A pause as he finally sprinkles some of the ground herbs into a strainer to pour the hot water over into a teacup.

"It made me insane."

"You took it? And you remember this?"

So the man must have overcome the power of it. That was a rare thing. Unheard of really. Something powerful enough to erase memories wasn't so easily overpowered. After all that was why it was used on mortals in the first place where he came from.

"We only used it to erase a person's strongest memory or obsession. It's how we made them into ghosts, as we called it."

KExing guessed his desire for revenge was just too great. "I don't know if it ever worked properly on me or if there was some antidote."

"You would have to have a powerful will to overcome something like that. It is why it's used the moment before reincarnation for mortals. That way the will is not so strong because they know they are going to a new life."

It still did not explain something though. And he was suddenly wondering if what he was suggesting was... "Are you saying you feel I might have taken this?"

He frowned in thought because why would an Immortal drink this? There was no reason for it. Yet the pain in his head was there and he closed his eyes a moment to try to ignore it so he could focus on the conversation.

He nodded once. "With no other illness at play, it seems like a logical diagnosis." His people often suffer pain, physically and mentally, when faced with reminders of the things they were supposed to forget. Even Kexing, himself.

"So you believe that my headaches might be me being reminded of something?" Was that it? And why would he have consumed it at all? None of this made any sense to him. Frowning deeply, he tried to understand what had happened that could have led to this moment.

"It's a possibility," he suggested. "Based on the experiences I've had personally." Kexing finally poured the hot drink into a cup and slid it across the table to Qianxun. "Is there anyone here from your world who might know of your past?"

"No." Because he was sure if the Dragon King knew then he would have told him by now. Something told him that the idiot wouldn't keep something like that from him. "There is only one other from my world here and the fool only knows me as I am."

Taking the tea, he let himself have a sip of it right away.

"Are you certain of that?" Not to cast aspersions on his acquaintance's character, but Kexing didn't know this person. His trust was spared for those in his own little social circle.

"If that doesn't help the headache, let me know. I have something that can help you sleep."

"Yes. I'm sure. He is too honest for his own good."

Which could be incredibly annoying most of the time. Drinking more of the tea, he paused a moment before speaking again. "...thank you."

For the medicine and for keeping this between them.

Kexing nodded, satisfied with Qianxun's answers. If he believed the other from his world was honest, Kexing had no reason to doubt.

"Repay me by getting well."

"Very well. I will."

He supposed that meant he would have to figure out what he was forgetting somehow. To see if the theory held true. How he would do that was a mystery to him but he figured that if it was true then he would find a way.

If only Kexing could offer some advice. His forgetfulness never stuck as it should have; revenge for his family always his driving motivation since childhood. So, all he was left with was trying to bring Qianxun some comfort when it was needed.

"If I could do more to aid you, I would."

"You are already aiding me. With your medicine and your words."

It was so much more than he could have hoped for really. But it meant he had thing to consider. Things to ponder. Which was more than he'd ever had before when he'd just been thinking about this on his own.

He wasn't good at this but he tried to say something nice. "...don't underestimate your value in this moment."

There. That seemed nice enough.
