Lan Jingyi
[Kizuna traits- Jingyi has a small streak of pink in his hair, his eyes turn a shiny emerald green color whenever he's around Jiang Cheng and a light blue whenever he's around Sizhui. New additions: Jingyi now has pale blonde ears and tail of a labrador.]

Wen Qing
[Kizuna traits- Wen Qing is slowly getting more noticeable owl feathers in her hair.]

Ye Baiyi
[Kizuna traits- Baiyi can and does usually hide this, but his chest/ abdomen is covered in thick, white bear fur. He's just gained a small, white nub of a tail too, but he also hides that.]

Tay
[Kizuna traits- Tay has cute cat ears, one white and one black, and a white, long-haired cat tail with black patches.]

"Wuxian's gone." The answer was quiet and succinct. "A-Jie and I felt it." He didn't want to know how Wangji and the nephews were faring. But if they needed a doctor, he needed to make certain Wen Qing was okay. And, he wanted to make certain she wasn't in too much pain, either.

Maybe the fact that the qi deviation forced him to be more stable had him moving around better. Who knew. But he did know that she would want company whether she realized it or not. Once he knew Yanli was stable and hopefully Guangyao would stay with her, he answered the Mafia's call to him. "How are you?"

Those two words bring everything into focus and she suddenly understands exactly what she's been feeling. Only she knows what she's feeling can't possibly compare to what Wuxian's siblings must be enduring- and that of his husband!

"Please, come in," she steps back and gently takes the tray of tea from him. "Sit on the cushions, not the bed." She hasn't had a chance to clean it and it was terribly wrong to let Cheng sit anywhere tainted with blood.

"I'll be alright. I'm already better than when I woke. What do you need, A-Cheng? You must be feeling worse than I am."

"I'm okay." This time he means it. What happened was nothing like the panic-inducing deviation. He could endure and for once make certain the others close to him are fairing well.

Cheng moves to sit on the cushions, taking the pot as soon as the tray was set on the table. "Having fear I had this happen to me initially, when it really happened... it was bad but not as bad as I thought it could be."

Sitting down with him, she smiles with relief when he speaks. It feels like a genuine answer and not something he is saying to brush aside her worry.

"I'd wondered what it would feel like too once I began showing Kizuna bond traits. Not to mention how you'd reacted to.. well, you know. I've been having some success repressing some of the symptoms through a technique I've learned here. It isn't helping entirely, of course, but some."

With Sora magic, she can at least lesson some of the pain specifically from the bond breaking but the sadness and sense of loss was beyond her abilities. She wishes she'd spent more time studying the magic, but lately there have been too many other things going on.

"The Lan juniors are going to be hurting along with Hanguang Jun."

"I know." He's gravely serious about that. It worries him that people so young had to manage such pain. It hit a little too close to home of the loss. He wants to say he has comfort in the fact that he's been returned home and not dead but he thinks he'd be throwing that fact in her face.

And Cheng doesn't want to do that.

Instead he pours her tea, glancing back at her momentarily. "Is there anything that you need?"

His turn to take care of people.

She needs to shake off her own broken bond so she can hurry and find ways to help everyone else. Was there anyone from their old world who wouldn't be affected by Wuxian leaving?

Before she could think too much about that though, Cheng once again is asking about her well-being. The care makes her smile, even if it doesn't quite reach her eyes yet. "You telling me what is happening was the main thing I needed." She moves so she can sit closer to his side. "It's scary to think people can vanish here without any kind of warning, but that's how it is, isn't it?"

"It's not much different than death." He speaks as he finishes pouring the tea. "The reason why it's worse is because of the bonds and there's no warning."

There was no warning with Huaisang. There was no warning with Wuxian. There would be no warning for him, either.

She picks up her cup of tea and sighs. That must be the reason this feels different. There's the natural grief and shock of losing someone, but the magic they're slaves to here makes it worse.

"If this place should ever cause me to hurt you because of our bond, I don't think I be able to forgive myself in this life or the next."

"It will. But it is not because of you. It is because of this place."

Living is pain. He learned that lesson a long time ago before he arrived here. Eventually, whether it was intended or not, people would hurt him. He couldn't change that fact.

“That would’ve been a good time to tell me you’ll forgive me if that happens,” she admonishes with a playful smirk.

She reaches out and takes Cheng’s hand. “But I’m not going anywhere.”

"But there's nothing to forgive if it's not your fault anyway." It was an automatic response. He feels her touch and then realizes that she might have been teasing him. His uncertain expression smooths out as he shifts his hand in hers, threading their fingers together.

"Not for a long time, I hope."
