Yanli still wasn't overly fond of the fact that she'd lost one of her brothers. It was one of the reasons that she'd shoved herself into her work. Jin Guangyao had taken to spending time with Nie Mingjue due to the loss of Lan Xichen too, something that she could understand. Losing family hurt. Especially when she's not entirely sure what he brother was being sent back too. Hopefully to his version of Lan Wangji.

When she comes out of the back she gives a soft smile, even if that smile probably doesn't reach her eyes," Master Kinn."

"Khun Jiang." Ah! This is why the name was familiar to him. He notices her somber expression and tilts his head, brows furrowed slightly. "Is this a bad time?"

"Bad time? No. I've just been dealing with a lot, that's all. A-Xian is no longer here," She tells Kinn. More so he knew the reason for her lack of bright smiles. Something that he'd seen before when they'd talked about family. "What can I get for you, Master Kinn?" After all, she'd be the one making it for him, no one else would be.

Kinn's face fell. "I'm sorry to hear that. How have you and your brother been handling it?"

As she asked about food, he gave a slight smile and a gesture. "I will leave it to the discretion of the house madame. I'm not picky."

Unless it's bugs. No bugs, please. He can leave that all for Porsche.

"We're holding up as well as we can."

More like she was keeping herself busy. She took care of her baby brother but they both tended to keep a bit busy. It was the easiest way to make sure one didn't fall into despair or tears. She'd hated losing Wei Wuxian and she knows that Jiang Wanyin did too. Especially when she'd been so proud of her brothers for getting along after everything that had happened.

"Then I will see what I can come up with."

Even if she's bound to make him some of her lotus root and pork rib soup.

Kinn smiled warmly, choosing not to linger over the loss as she chose not to, either. "I would greatly appreciate it, thank you."

As she turned to go, Kinn sat back, looking around the establishment in order to take in the decor. It was nice, like a little tea shop. Like that one Porsche took him to, actually. It brought about nice memories that tugged at his heart.

If she focused on the loss then she'd probably break down, so it was easier to focus on Kinn and making sure he got good food in him. Which is why she disappears long enough to make him some of her lotus root and pork rib soup. However, she also brings out some pork dumplings too.

When she returns and sets the dishes out she gives him a soft smile," Would you like some tea or juice, Master Kinn?" Or if he wanted something stronger she could supply that as well.

“Tea, please. Thank you.” He could smell the spice from the food and chose not to add alcohol into the mix. With two options, he wasn’t certain what to start with so with a small, decisive nod, starts with the soup. He’s certain that to someone who wasn’t used to spice, the dish would have been overwhelming. Instead his face lights up, meeting hers. “This is excellent,” Kinn compliments before he takes in another spoonful.

Alcohol with the mix of spices might not be a good idea. Even if her brothers would've mixed them, especially Wei Wuxian. She does, however, give a soft smile when his face lights up. That? It was the best thing she could ever get out of someone. That? It meant the world to her. She does, however, head back to get him some Jasmine tea before bringing it back and sitting it before him.

"Jasmine tea to compliment it," she tells him. "I'm glad that you're enjoying the soup."

"This is excellent!" And every bit of body language confirms that. "This is the famous soup your brother was talking about?"

There's a soft smile out of her and she loves his reaction, it's one that she'll never not love seeing out of people once they've tasted her food. "Yes, this is my lotus root and pork rib soup that my brother was talking about."

"Most excellent." Good food will always brighten Kinn's mood and this definitely did it. Hot and spicy without overpowering the true flavors underneath that heat had him wondering if she could be persuaded to give the recipe to Vegas.

"How often do you make this?"

If her food can brighten someone's mood then something is being done right. Something that she can appreciate, if she's being honest. Kinn could ask if she'd part with her recipe but it wasn't bound to happen. She would make some for him to take home with him if he wanted but she won't actively give the recipe away.

"I make it for my brother and for my customers. So, it depends on who all asks for it."
