Just gimmie the gun. (closed-ish?)
⌛ Who: Kinn, Vegas, Pete? Mafia crew?
⌛ What: Fixing up the Hotel California
⌛ When: Mid-November
⌛ Where: At the future site of Hotel California--in the Kohaku territory
⌛ Warnings: Injury and things associated with that. Blood, swearing, blah blah blah. Kizuna break. VEGAS BEING NICE
Today was the day Kinn needed to assess which walls needed to be done over completely. There was one large section of the wall that Kinn had chosen to be something of an onsen and workout area that was going to need to be replaced. Everything had rotted out so badly that the only recourse was to tear the worst bits down and then patch it up. Or maybe he would put a door in that spot. He should put a door in that spot! It would make things easier and having a door opening out to the courtyard area wasn't a bad thing. Especially if this place would have guests one day.
As he hefted the sledgehammer to knock out another piece of timber, he felt it. It was a gunshot--who the fuck was shooting at him here?! He felt that 'bullet' rip right through his shoulder and he gave a strangled cry, the sledgehammer hitting something he hadn't intended and knocking out a weight-bearing post, causing the rest of the wall to crumble, hitting his head and back until the roar in his ears deafened him. Another snap, this time said bullet was in his arm-and Kinn cried out, struggling to get up and fight, confused as to where the attack is coming from. Was it an attack? He usually was more observant about his surroundings than this! What the hell happened?
Still in major pain (almost climbing to 'stepping on a lego' level,) Kinn struggled to get up. HIs left shoulder and forearm were on fire and throbbing, with the rest of his body feeling like it had gone through a rock tumbler. As the dust settled, he realized he was pinned a bit by the debris of the wall, and any way to contact for help was... it wasn't here, at least.
Fuck.
Kinn groaned, letting his head drop back as he felt some dizziness overcome him again. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

"Give me five seconds after I get in the window. Then have fun."

"Tell them to cover their ears if you can."

Taking is jacket off, he studied the window and slowly slid it open. When the coast was clear he slipped inside and went straight to the girls. "Hi there. I'm Pete and I'm getting you back to your grandfather. Do me a favor and close your eyes really tight and cover your ears."
With a smile so sweet and a face that friendly, they were quick to nod and do as they were told as he covered their heads with his jacket and then covered them with his own body. He'd been heard by the two behind him but he knew Vegas would take care of them. So they weren't worth his time to pay attention to.

Confident that Pete's had the time he needs to secure the girls and seeing no sign that he's been detected by the assholes inside the office, Vegas came out of his hiding spot. He kicked the door open and fired twice, one at the guard and then at the boss. Both went down without a fuss, but one was still gurgling as he died. So, to spare the girls from hearing that, he took the pistol from the waist of his pants and put a bullet in his heart.
"Clear."

"Okay. Let's get you home to your grandpa. Close your eyes and then count to ten. Can you do that for me?"
Once he had a nod and they started counting, he put one on each hip then immediately carried them out of the office so they'd never see the bodies. Looking to Vegas, he nodded. His husband was going to have to be protection duty because his arms were full but he knew he could trust him.
Then he proceeded to start making friends with the scared girls as they walked, finding out all the things that made them happy. Their favorite colors, what they liked to do for fun... One would never know that he'd just helped to slaughter half the people in that building to save these girls.

Once they were a block or two away, Vegas let some of his guard down, but not all of it. They weren't going to be completely safe for a while. Not until word started getting around that Waisu and his family and business were under Theerapanyakul protection.
"We'll need to check back to make sure everything's okay." He meant with the bone-setter and his family.

That was not at all what Vegas meant but it was what the girls would understand. More than that they were utterly delighted to find out that they got to call these two men but such cute honorifics. And of course, Pete just had to make it better.
Or worse depending on who you asked.
"When we get there there's a man with a hurt arm. He's Kinn-chan and he's going to make sure with us that your family is safe. And with him will be someone with very pretty hair named Riley-chan!" As the girls started talking about that, Pete looked at his husband and nodded. Yes, they'd definitely do regular look ins to make sure they were alright.

Setting the girls down, he walked in with them then set them loose to go run to their grandfather and embrace the poor crying man who was just so happy to see them.

It was worth waiting for Pete and Vegas return with the twins in their presence. It was equally good to watch the reunion, a fond smile forming on Kinn's lips as it happened. The only time the smile faded was when he looked up to both Pete and Vegas, checking for wounds, quirking a brow if he noted blood on them. Was it theirs?

They'd gone to Kosaku-san who had given them better information in exchange for them doing exactly what they'd done. Take out the gang. They left the weakest member alive to send a message and made sure the girls didn't witness any bodies or violence.
With that, he stepped back so that way Kinn could have the chance to look like the boss he was.

He wondered if his father would have condoned something like this. Then Kinn dismisses the thought. Father wasn't here, Kinn was, and he needed to make certain his people were safe here until they could get home again. They had a home, at least one business up and running, and were steadily working on protection. It was good enough for him.
They were still Mafia, but it had changed. Kinn thinks he likes it.
When the girls finally settled and were looking at him, Kinn smiled. "I'm so happy to see you two safe and with your papa," the twins brightened. And he had no idea which one was which. "My cousins and I would very much like to be friends, what do you think?"
After an impish exchange of looks, they girls chimed in, "Hai, Kinn-chan!" And then he was rushed. Waisu looked like he was about to have a heart attack when the girls climbed in for a hug, knowing who they were speaking to. Kinn waved the worry aside but threw Pete and Vegas an eyebrow. Kinn-chan, was it?
