"Outside of my native English, I've learned Greek, Latin, German, French (and related languages like Spanish and Italian), Russian, Anglo-Saxon, Welsh, and both Scots and Irish Gaelic." And he's very proud of this. "Mother said it was best to study things in their native language and not to depend on what could be unreliable translations."

"I do not know those languages." Though, it sounded as if he was taught rather well. Just as hearing that his mother said it was best to study things in their native language actually made sense. It was probably easier to understand once one learned that specific language. "That sounds like good advice. Have you had a chance to use any of those languages here?"

"No, not a great deal," he sighed. "Thankfully, I've focused my studies on the local flora and fauna and myths so, I'm able to read what's available thanks to whatever magic makes us all able to communicate here."
