[ He hadn't gone to the party for long. He wanted to spend a little time with some of the people he had met and enjoyed the company of. Just say hello, maybe dance, then return home to his brother. The first person Hypnos wanted to spend a major event with is Thanatos. And there's something potentially major hanging over both of their heads. He's always though of his brother first, especially at times like this. The moment he steps inside, he calls for his brother. ]
Thanatos - do you want to come watch the stars with me tonight?
[ They've never done something like that before together - their home has no real sky, after all. Hypnos hadn't even done it since arriving. And now that Thanatos is here, he's glad that he hadn't. He can experience it with his brother. Or so he hopes - he supposes there's always a chance his brother would reject the idea.
It's impossible for him to say. So he decides to add -- ]
[Thanatos has been struggling with being here, to a point that he's having difficulty in hiding it from his twin brother. It would be hard to hide anything from him to begin with, but the way that the blurred border between life and death has been wearing on him is starting to show.
There's a moment between when Hypnos calls for him and when he appears. Few people actually call for Thanatos in that way, so when they do he pays attention. When it's family, he would almost always respond.]

[He appears with his feet on the floor, without his scythe, and without most of his armour pieces. What would be the use of them when he's just spending some time with his brother?]
[ He didn't want to turn this into much of a trip, but enough to get out of the house for a little while. There had been a hill he had seen in passing, and with so many gone at the party - it's quiet out. So it's really the perfect time to sit outside on top of his oversized cloak. So it'd just be them out there, enjoying the cool air and the stars. He wasn't just considering that it was good for watching to see if time resets, but a good time to spend with Thanatos.
And he knows that if Thanatos rejects the idea, he's ready to make adjustments. Right now - he just wants to be with his favorite person here. ]
Everyone else is out at that party, so it's a perfect time for us.
[Thanatos sighs, but it isn't the kind of sigh that usually comes before he says something sharp or unkind. It's a soft, tired-sounding thing before he nods and all too easily gives in to his brother's request. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad, and... maybe he would like to spend some time with Hypnos, too.]
Lead the way.
[And he steps up beside his twin, briefly and gently pushing a hand against the small of his back to get him going.]
[ He smiles towards Thanatos. The look is soft and affectionate. He loves his brother more than anything, so he's glad to share this with him. Hand on his back, he casts his brother a glance before he starts forward. ]
I know you are.
[ He's -- not nervous about the possibility of things getting reset. He's actually pretty unbothered by the idea. Still, he'd rather be with the most important person in his life than at a party if it were to happen. Because if things were to reset, then that means he'll be at his brother's side at the start of it all again. ]
I'm really glad you're here, Thanatos. As easy as others were to get along with, it's only ever felt right to me with you here.
[ While he's always been far more in touch with his feelings, he doesn't know how to explain it. Is it god thing? A twin thing? Or is it both - and simply a them thing? He'll be, for the most part, quiet for the walk as he leads his brother towards a hill that they can perch themselves at the top of. It's...quiet, almost empty here. It seems others had the similar idea to be with their people. ]
[His relationship with Hypnos still feels strange, but in Nippon it often feels that he is the only thing keeping Thanatos steady. Having him here provides a focal point, a reason to keep himself from sliding, and he is... grateful for that.
They used to be so close, didn't they. What happened?
He looks over at his brother, surprise written briefly across his face. Never felt right without him here? Ah, sometimes he forgets that Hypnos was alone here for a while. The idea of that is an oddly uncomfortable one - even though Thanatos' work has kept him away, they have at least always been in the same world.
Thanatos studies his twin's face for a few moments, then turns his attention forwards while they finish walking up the hill. Once there, sitting down together, he looks down at Hypnos' hand before he gently places his own over it.]
I'm glad you're here, too. It wouldn't have felt right without you.
[ It almost feels warm. He thinks it's been a long time since he's felt close to Thanatos. They hadn't spent as much time together in recent years as Hypnos would like. It wasn't that Hypnos loved his brother any less, or felt that there was a wedge driven between them. They had their own lives, and demands of work combined with their individual work ethics took them to very different places. Thanatos had a demanding job.
He thinks it's been even longer since his brother has reached out to him like this. How long has it been? He doesn't even remember. His eyes fall on their hands and smiles. ]
I'm glad.
[ He's not sure for which part of what Thanatos said, though. Is it because Thanatos is happy to have him? Is it because the other wouldn't feel right, too? Maybe -- both. He's relieved his brother feels the same way he'd feel. He turns his hand, intertwining his flingers in Thanatos', taking hold of his borther's hand. ]
We don't have to worry about that anymore, though. Because you're here and we're together again. And you can spend all the time you'd like with me.
[ Because no matter what, Hypnos would happily spend every moment with Thanatos, so he'll leave that part up to his brother. ]
Thanatos has had little occasion to give his wants any thought at all over the past... He's lost count of how long it's been since his work - his purpose - utterly consumed him. Had he spent more than five minutes with Hypnos since they were new gods? And how much of those short snippets of company had he spent simply berating his twin for his laziness and lack of work ethic?
He realises with a start that what he's feeling is shame.
The death god slants his gaze sideways towards his brother. He and Hypnos have many siblings but he has never felt as close to any of them as he does to his twin - the two of them cut from the same cloth, the same patch of darkness, all those eons ago.
Thanatos squeezes his fingers around Hypnos' hand.]
[ Hypnos liked his room, and he often liked the quiet of being in the space alone. Just him, the massive piles of pillows, blankets, and in a cozy outfit tucked into them. But there were other times where having someone here is nice. When he wanted to spend time with Thanatos, he usually didn't spend it in his room. His room wasn't hidden like his brothers, and it was accessible. Given, people didn't actually enter his room without him knowing, but he knew his brother liked his space.
But today, he wanted company. And he wanted company here. Most people were out and about at various events - an amusement park or something like that. He didn't know because he wasn't going. He just wanted to spend time in his room sprawled against his pillows. He rolls onto his side and gets out his device - a phone - and sends his brother a message. ]
Thanatos, are you free?
[ He hopes so. Maybe he should say why he asked. ]
[Thanatos sees the message a few minutes after receiving it, once he finally answers the insistent buzzing notification on the comms device. There were easier ways for his twin to get his attention...
Death Incarnate sighs to himself and doesn't bother to reply to the message, rather immediately teleports himself to a part of his brother's room that he is certain the other god will not be standing in - that is, really, anywhere except for the bed. His presence is announced with a sickly green flash of light and the distant, vibrating sound of a gong being rung.]
[ Maybe he should have called upon him differently, but he somehow felt it was less invasive to do it this way. Next time, maybe. He sits up from where he's laying and pats the spot next to him in his bed. Despite the comfort that fills the room, the bed itself is top tier comfort. ]
It's not an emergency, that's why I sent the message through the device.
[ He laughed a little, almost sounding bashful. ]
I just wanted to spend some time with my favorite person. Were you busy?
[He hesitates for a moment then joins Hypnos, though he only sits on the edge of the bed rather than scooting his way across it to be closer by his brother's side. While he's here he's rarely busy, and the lack of things to keep him occupied is beginning to wear on him...

[ Sigh. One thing at a time, he knows. For all that he knows Thanatos loves and cares about him, the way they act with each other has to look like they don't like each other sometimes. ]

[ Hypnos thought it might be neat to go out and do a few things; however, he wasn't sure exactly what was entailed when they described it as match-making. He's never really been much one for going on dates or anything similar; however, charity and fun tempted him to see what was up with the entire thing. Plus, he knows that it can't hurt to get to know a few people beyond home. The profile was easy - be straightforward about what he enjoys (sleep), who he is (the god of sleep), and the fact that he considers himself a pretty laid back and relaxed guy. He thinks that's plenty of information to work with. They set up the tea date for him to chat with someone they think he'll get along with and he dressed as he normally did here - in a straightforward red kimono without any shoes and his cloak on top.
When the other approaches the table, they'll find Hypnos half-asleep in his chair, already dozing even though it's only been a few moments.
He seems to shake himself awake when he notices the stranger, and take on the appearance of someone who didn't just crash out at the table within seconds. Introductions first, right? ]
[The idea of a date given by a match maker, Silver thought, had no reason to be so... daunting. It's for charity, and he wouldn't back down, but inputting so much information felt strange. When they inform him he has an actual match, the young man is actually shocked, honestly.
So here he is. Having only been brought here in the last few months, there's a limit to his available wardrobe, so even if it doesn't feel like proper date attire his dorm outfit will have to do. It seems like that's not so bad, by the time they're leading him over to his tea date. A kimono and a cloak both...? Strange choice, but it's almost not the first thing Silver notices.
The other man is definitely half-dozing in his chair when he arrives. It's such a familiar thing that he'd struggle to miss it, and it brings up the question - is he egregiously late? A sick glance at the displayed time on his communicator says no, but...]
Silver. It's a pleasure, Hypnos. I hope you haven't been waiting too long.
[He's already out of his depth, truthfully. A little rigid as he sits, pushing hair back behind one ear. ... yeah, he's great at this. How does one do small talk???]
