He listened as Riley spoke, questions springing to his mind. But first...
"I know, I know. It's not like you did it on purpose." He rubbed hs hand over Riley's back then finally let him go. "You must be famished after three days without eating. Go on, help yourself. There's hot and sour shrimp soup, some fried rice dishes, that banana roti I told you about, kimchi stew, congee..."
Letting out a laugh, he smiled at Vegas and nodded. He was hungry. And there was no way he didn't want to try the food that his big brother made for him. Especially two of those that he knew for a fact had been done specifically because of conversations they'd had together.
So he went over and the first thing he went for was the kimchi stew to make sure he had a good portion of it. Then he went to sit down and had a bite of it, rubbing at his eyes after because... "It's so much like hers..."
He looked up at Vegas and smiled at him. "It's perfect. Thank you so much."
Okay, the praise we nice. Especially for that dish since Vegas worked so hard on it. He wracked his brain to remember every detail Riley told him when he described how his mother made it. It was important to get that one just right.
"I'm sorry. I'll try so hard to not scare you guys like that again. But at least we know what happened now right? So we can be prepared if it happens to anyone else?" Or him again. But he didn't want to say that because it didn't feel right after everything.
"I didn't. But I still scared you all. And it feels like I missed so much even though it's only been a few days." Riley hugged him tighter. "I love you all so much. You're my precious family."
"Trust me, you didn't miss much at all. Everything basically stopped." That was true. All anyone did was fuss and worry and retreat into whatever coping mechanisms they had.
Vegas finally released Riley from his hold... sort of. He kept his hands on the Fae's shoulders and held him out at arm's length.
"If you ever do that again, I won't hesitate to kick your skinny little ass."
He pretended to stab him there with his imaginary knife then burst into giggles. Then he remembered... "Oh! Will and I are going to take a page from your book but then one up you. We're getting married tomorrow. You'll come right, P'Vegas?"
Vegas grabbed his side and bent over making exaggerated dying seal noises. As soon as Riley stopped pretending to stab him, he stood up straight, canting his head at the little exclamation.
Then a smile spread over his face and he tugged Riley back into a hug. "Congrats, nong! Of course I'll be there!"
He was still giggling over the way Vegas pretended to suffer from his 'blow'. It was silly but he loved that the man was willing to be silly with him. It really made him feel like a brother he'd had his whole life rather than a few months.
Grinning at him, he hugged back. "I'm so glad! I told Will I'd tell everyone and take care of things while he was sleeping. He should rest so I can properly jump him on our wedding night, after all!"
Vegas laughed and reached up to tussle Riley's hair. "No doubt he'll appreciate that." Horny little shits that they were. He turned to look around the kitchen and smirked. "I think we'll have enough food to feed everyone after."
"We will." He giggled again then had another bite of his stew. It was seriously so good. He couldn't believe he was getting to have it again after all this time. This was something he'd missed having so very much.
"And probably lots more after that. You really made so much."
"I'm glad you had an outlet for everything, P'Vegas. Now we can all work together to make sure your hard work doesn't go to waste." And he made sure to offer a bite of food to his big brother. Because it was amazing and he wanted to share.
"I think you did really great. But you always do."
The rest of his food was shared. A bite for him and then a bite fed to his big brother. Sharing always made him happy and he figured that Vegas deserved to have a break after all this work and worrying. "I'll clean everything up if you want to go pounce P'Pete, by the way."
He's just relieved that Riley's okay. There don't seem to be any lingering effects from his three-day nap, at least none that Vegas noticed. So he's content to let the reality settle in while Riley feeds him. The more it sinks in, the more he feels both tired and antsy. He needs to tell Pete... and make up for lost time. By the time they're done eating, Vegas nodded in agreement with Riley's suggestion.
"I think he could use a good pouncing. And he'll want to know you're up."

"Though you'll have to be careful now. You've been teaching me how to fight with knives. So I'm feisty these days."
He held up his fists in claws and gave a 'scary' growl. It was probably the least intimidating thing that Vegas had ever seen in his life though.
