⌛ Who: Jiang Cheng, Anakinn Theerapanyakul and YOU ⌛ What: Anything and everything around the kingdoms ⌛ When: January ⌛ Where: Nippon! ⌛ Warnings: Will be listed in subject header as needed
At least Kinns's being realistic. He knows if a situation arose where he absolutely had to eat insects, he would. Vegas would probably let himself starve like a total idiot.
"No, that they aren't. But I'm sure if there's a food stall that has them, Porsche will find them. And then we won't see him and Pete for an afternoon."
Eventually the server came back with the food and Kinn thanked them for the soup he had ordered. Looking back over to Vegas, he took the spoon and waited a moment. "You're still eating, right?
"It takes more than that to spoil my appetite." Have you forgotten that he basically used to torture people for a living, cousin? Vegas pulled his bowl of soup closer and took a sip. He was expecting something powerfully spicy but... No. The soup is actually mildly sweet due to the lotus root which complements the natural salts of the pork rib.
Kinn paused after the first mouthful, his brow furrowing. And then he set the spoon down, giving Vegas a look. "This...isn't what I had last time," he confessed. "It's not bad, but I thought it would have been the same."
"It's not surprising. Rak bua is naturally sweet. I make a mean Chinese-style lotus root stir fry. I'll make it for you sometime." The key was to balance the sweetness of the lotus root with the savory flavor of the meat so they complement, not overpower one another.
"This is good. Well-cooked. The lotus root has the texture of a boiled potato, which is just right. What did you have?"
"It was much like this only the broth had the chile flakes and oil," Kinn answered, still feeling a bit foolish that he was going to have the same dish as before. He questioned whether or not he would ever patron this place again. But as he heard Vegas offering something else up, he nodded to his cousin. "I would love to try it out. They have to have a lotus source around here if they can make dishes like this all the time."
"I'll make it after you and Porsche get married. It'll be your first meal as married people." He gave a knowing look and smiled. That would give him time to figure out where to get the lotus roots. In a place like this, it shouldn't be terribly hard to find.
And that was when Vegas got the dopiest, shit-eating grin from Kinn. He was going to get married to the love of his life here and important people were here to witness that. He couldn't be upset about that at all!
"I'm going to hold you to it," Kinn said shrewdly, pointing his spoon in Vegas' direction.
"Better let Porsche know your wedding feast is already decided," he droned with a little sarcasm. There'd be more than just the stir fry, he could promise that much. "You should talk to the Fae about a cake. They probably know all the best bakers in Nippon by now."
"I'm sure they do." But a wedding feast by Vegas' hands was definitely something that wasn't going to be scorned. His expression took on a serious turn. "Thank you. Now I know why you eloped. You'd never have as excellent a feast."
Kinn would have never been able to pull it off. He was a Mafia heir, not a sou chef.
Kinn couldn't disagree there! "Yes, it is a lot of planning, but it'll be worth it so see the smile on Porsche's face."
That's all Kinn cared about. The preparations for this wedding were annoying, but it was going to be grand to see Porsche dressed up with a white crown on his head. For that, he couldn't wait.
"If things were like with normal people, would you have gone the traditional route?"
Right. Because Mafia boys were never whipped by their significant others. Kinn smirks, nodding. "Fair enough. But, let's say you wanted to go traditional. What would be your top priorities?"
"Looking good is important." To him. He rather thinks it is to Kinn, too, given how he dressed so nicely back home. But then his expression actually turned thoughtful. "If I had a traditional wedding, I would want it to be intimate. Just the closest people to me and Pete. Less chance for interruptions."
He nods in contemplation. Vegas had a point about interruptions. Though it didn't seem like any would happen here--one never knew. Yokohama might actually get off their ass and try and do something then. "I can't see anyone at the temple with us other than you and Pete. No one else would really understand."
A small groan came from him. "This is why I had other people do guest lists. Right. So. For the ceremony, anyone with the surname Theerapanyakul," that took care of Kim, too, "the Fae, and that should be good, then." Anyone else he would want to witness the event were no longer here. "At least from my side. I'll have to see who Porsche wants to invite, too."

But actually yes, if Pete wanted that.
