Open Valentine's Celebration

Over at Pete's in Yokohama, they had prepared a day to celebrate love. There were cute decorations about and the food tended to be served on heart shaped plates. More than that, they'd modified their menu to include the usuals but to also now have some special drinks for the week. Around the bar were little menus to let everyone know what these drinks were.

And what was the Cupid's Kiss? Why it was a little party popper filled with confetti that was made up of hearts and lips. A great way to celebrate with someone you loved whether it be friend or significant other. With the party going on for a week with the big party on Valentine's Day itself everyone was sure to have a great time and have their share of drug free booze to partake in.

And on the Day itself? The place would be packed. A food table with holiday treats could be found filled with all kinds of baked goods provided by The Bean Counter. Off to one side one could even play a little game of filling out a sheet to find out how well they knew their partner(s). Some of the questions were weird and some were expected. All part of the fun right? Anyone scoring higher than ten would get one free drink for the evening. Served in a giant glass to share with your loved ones, of course!

Ask the married couple who owns the bar and they might even be down to kiss each other for your eyes too. All in the name of love~

Silvio had figured that someone with as bright a nature as Wren seemed to have should have the chance to meet people. So he'd taken her out to the Valentine's thing that Pete's was having. It wasn't a holiday he'd ever celebrated before but it was nice to be able to spend time with friends. Including the new one he'd brought.

Though he wasn't able to see, he'd still found someone willing to get him a nicer shirt to wear with his jeans. Probably he should get slacks at some point but he didn't want to have anything too nice until he had a place to live that wasn't...a camp.

Smiling a bit at his date's question, he gave a shrug. "I'll be honest with you. I don't go to bars much. And I'm not one to really know the difference between all of them."

Her eyes were still scanning everything, her hand on the crook of Sylvio's arm the entire time. "Bars are so much of human culture. They're a gathering place for gossip, information, storytelling, and of course, companionship, to a degree. The way one person sets them up is unique to their past and their livelihood. It's like, showcasing themse--oh. Well, that's a mural! Someone put up a giant portrait of someone on the wall."

She looks back to Silvio, patting her free hand on his arm as well. "It's alright, though. I tend to be the DD in my friend groups so the bars always think I'm a cheap patron." That and being a lightweight, she preferred to have her wits about her.

"There's a mural?" Silvio had never known that actually. Hearing and smelling really well sure didn't tell you when there was art present. Sure he could identify paint but what the paint was? Could be anything at all. Apparently it was a mural.

Huh.

"You'll have to let me know what a DD is though. That's another one I'm not familiar with."

[whrrenah]

"Oh, yes. A giant mural of someone's face-I have to presume it's this Pete guy that the bar's named. And there are pieces of colored glass hanging from the ceiling like stars. They're so close together, I bet a breeze would make them clink together."

So much Silvio was missing out on! Well, now Wren had a purpose here.

"The place is dark, but it's not black out. I can see people fairly well, but the colors are muted-almost like shadows. And DD stands for 'designated driver.' I'm an extremely cheap date."

"Vegas is really into his husband. He had a post once where apparently Pete had shown people what Vegas didn't want them to see. It was an accident but I could be that is Pete."

Lifting his head despite the fact that he couldn't see, he wondered what the glass looked like up there. Color glass hanging like stars sounded really nice though. Listening to the rest of what she had to say, he smiled a bit.

"You might be a cheap date but you're an amazing guide. I had no idea this place looked like any of that."

The speaking of such love and devotion brought a smile to her face. "No one described the place to you?" Well, that was something that needed to be rectified immediately! "I have a friend who's partner is blind-happened when he was a child. We describe things to Verti all the time. I'm more than happy to go over the place with you."

She would describe the people, the texture of the wood on the walls, shift things she saw into what it would feel or smell or maybe even taste like, depending on the object in question. There was a lot in this little bar, even if one took the people out of the equation.

"To be fair to everyone, I never asked either."

Silvio knew he probably could have asked but he was so used to being blind that it had never crossed his mind until she started to describe things to him right now. It was nice though, seeing this room through her eyes.

"I like it though. Tell me more."

[whrrenah]

She squeezed her hand on his arm a bit. "Sure. Lets find a little corner to sit in. Oh! There's snacks. Do you have any restrictions? They look sweet, for the most part. But there's some other finger foods, some meaty paste on crackers--not pate, though."

"No. I can eat anything as far as I know. Get whatever you want and we can try it out together." He gave her a warm smile and walked with her to the table, already offering his hands to carry plates for her.

Wren took double of everything, commenting on what smelled sweet and what smelled spicy, dividing them up accordingly between the two plates. Going back to their claimed space, she still kept up the soft chatter, going for the spicy stuff first.

"I figured the sweet could counter the spice if it got too hot."
