Yu Mingye did not make this into a habit. When he'd played for Xingchen it had been because the man wanted to hear it. Had wanted to hear it since before Xingchen had found a way to give him back his arm. An arm that he was still strengthening. Xingchen had been the first to ever step into his personal space. That, in itself, had been weird to him. No one did that. Xiao Xingchen did.

Now? He was heading off towards the address that Runyu had given him. Just walk in. Who did that? He could easily slip through the shadows and in through the window. Instead, comes through the front door and shuts it behind him. Runyu was definitely courting danger allowing him just to walk right in like that, even if he's no danger to his newfound friend.

"Love what you did with the place," he teases.

So far, Xingchen and Runyu had gotten a few smiles out of him. It wasn't something that he did very often. He's found, though, that both men were easy to smile around. He wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that. Especially when the only one to ever get much of a smile out of him back home had been Feng Wu. Maybe it was just the way that the men treated him, he isn't sure.

"You and him have been the only ones I've ever done that around. I wasn't ever anyone who smiled often."

"Perhaps you just didn't have reason to before," he noted. He could understand what that was like honestly. There were only a few people in his life who had been able to bring smiles to his lips and now that was gone for the most part. All by his own doing.

Runyu shook his head a little to chase away those thoughts. "The reason isn't too important really. I am just glad that I get to see them. I like your smile."

Mingye has never really thought of it that way. Never thought that maybe he had no reason to smile before. Now? He had Xingchen and Runyu for that. Which was, in itself, interesting. He picks up his xiao and twirls it, a habit that he has, when the other says that the reason isn't important.

"I'll have to make sure I smile for you more, then."

That habit was cute honestly, his eyes tracking the twirling of the xiao. Twirling here and there... Runyu leaned over so he could serve Mingye more tea then served himself as well. It honestly wasn't right for someone of his status to be doing this but he'd started to keep that more private as the days passed.

"I would like that. It has a way of making your eyes light up."

Mingye can't help but laugh when he sees how Runyu is tracking his xiao, which just has him twirling it that much more. He could be a brat when he wants to be. He does, however, give a nod of thanks when the tea is topped off.

"I don't know about the eyes, but I'll keep that in mind."

The laugh was nice too and he looked amused at the way that Mingye started to show off for him. Really the young man was quite cute. Cute could be so dangerous too. Especially when he knew how drawn to cute people he was. But he quietly kept that to himself as he lifted his cup to have a sip of it.

"Oh? Well, you can take my word for it if you like like," he said with a small smile of his own.

Oh no. Not someone else who thinks he's cute! What was he going to do with that? He sets his xiao aside before picking up the cup of tea and shakes his head watching Runyu for a moment. There's a hint of amusement that slips through his voice.

"So he CAN smile."

Runyu looked over at him with surprise on his face. He hadn't even realized he had been smiling at all. It had just been so easy to do so around Mingye. There was just something about the man that he was drawn to. Something that relaxed him.

He let out a soft laugh. "Was I? I didn't realize. I suppose I've been finding I smile more here than I have in a very long time."

Another drink of his tea and he shakes his head, liking the sound of that soft laugh. Runyu had a nice laugh to him, as well as a nice smile. The question, however, almost mirrors his reaction to the other earlier. Funny how they were both at ease with the other.

"You were. Which means you'll have to do it more often, especially if you want me to smile more often. I like your smile too."

Another person who liked his smile. This was the most that people had every commented on aspects of his appearance in his entire life. Given how he was thousands of years old, that was truly saying something. Runyu couldn't help but to watch Mingye for a moment or so before smiling again as he shook his head.

So he liked his smile, hm? "It won't be too difficult to keep smiling for you if you continue to visit, I think. Since it seems you will I have a feeling you'll see it more often."

Which was nice. Perhaps he really would have to start keeping alcohol here for him.

"Well, you did say that I could come and go as I please."

If Runyu didn't want a demonic cultivator stray that came and went as he wanted then he should say so. Otherwise, Mingye would come and go as he pleased. Use the shadows to his advantage. He does, however, give him a bit of a smirk.

"I'll try to make sure to use the front door when I slip in too. Otherwise, you might have to leave the windows open," he teases.

"The windows? Are there other tricks you plan to use too?"

Rising to his feet and setting the cup down, Runyu actually went over to the window to open it a crack. Just to show that he was more than welcome to come and go through them as he wished to.

"Though, I admit that I may leave them closed as it gets colder. I greatly dislike being cold."

Too many traumatic memories from it. Ones that paired too well with loneliness.

"There's many tricks that I could use."

He doesn't, however, expect Runyu to get up and move over opening the window. It was as bad as the other leaving the door unlocked. He still wanted to know who did that kind of thing. Even if it was someone who could protect themselves.

"Well, if you leave them unlocked you don't have to keep them open."

Even as he says it, he uses some of his dark energy to shut the window. If the window was unlocked then he could easily use his dark energy to open it as he needed.

Runyu watched with interest as the dark energy closed the window, lightly trailing his fingers along the frame. That was impressive honestly and he looked back to Mingye. He'd already been so intrigued by him but now he had to admit he was more fascinated than ever.

"There was darkness to that energy. Do you have complete control over it?" There was no concern in his tone, only pure curiosity as he came closer to him.

Lord Demon would have probably had a fit if he knew that he was using his dark energy so easily around strangers. Luckily, the man couldn't ever bother him ever again with whatever he did. He, himself, had power, but he didn't abuse it. Even if power had been the only thing he'd known growing up before Feng Wu.

Those eyes watch Runyu as he moves over to him. The dark energy wasn't his only ability, speed was as well, but there was no point in that one. He didn't need to get away from anyone, much less Runyu.

"I've had complete control over it since I was young. It goes rather well with my weapon."

Something that was always on him and yet never visible.

"May I see more of it? You had such fine control over it. It was rather beautiful actually."

He typically only saw that kind of control over energy among other Immortals. So far he didn't think that Mingye was one but he was willing to entertain the possibility. Either way, Runyu sat down again, leaning forward a little as he pondered if this young man was more Yin or Yang. To be honest he was suspecting the former but seeing more would sure give him a better idea.

Mingye was by no means an immortal of any kind. He was a demonic cultivator who was good with his weapon and dark energy, as well as his speed. Or, as Wangji put it, his tricks. Something that he'd learned to utilize in the Darknight Court.

He watches Runyu as he sits back down before leaning back and taking a sip of his tea, giving a slight nod," I wouldn't mind showing you. Anything else, however, couldn't be done within the house. I'd hate to break anything."

So they needed to protect the place? Runyu looked around then smiled. He was worried about this place? Well he could possibly do something about that.

"Do you need a barrier or more space?"

Runyu had made the place his own and Mingye didn't want to mess that up. The last thing he wanted to do was destroy a friend's house, no matter what they wanted to see. If he was willing to do this with the man before him then maybe he should with Xingchen too. They were both people that he trusted. Which was odd since he'd just met Runyu.

"More space. Though, considering my weapon of choice, a barrier wouldn't be bad either."

"We can go somewhere then. I can provide the barrier. Do you have a place in mind?"

It was as simple as that really. Runyu was ready to offer his abilities for this. After all, he couldn't help but to be curious. Especially the more that Mingye implied that there could be more for him to discover.

"I can show you some of what I can do in exchange."

"The park is the easiest and simpliest place to go."

The park was a pretty vast place and would give them some much needed space. Though, he's almost wondering why it would be that simple. It couldn't be, could it? However, he was already giving Runyu the benefit of the doubt and custody of himself. Well, partial custody. That was still mildly amusing to him.

"Seems fair enough to me."

He finishes his tea and places his xiao at his waist before standing, stretching, and watches the other for a moment," Coming?"

Runyu chuckled and rose to his feet, sweeping his sleeves out of the way so they would rest properly as he walked. With a hand, he waved for Mingye to lead the way, easily clearing away the tea with a sweep of his hand. As if the set had never been there in the first place. And all while he was following after him too as if that tea had been nothing but an after thought.

"I wouldn't miss it," he declared as they entered the hallway, his steps easily falling in line with the man next to him.

It was weird seeing the tea set just disappear like that. However, the Darknight Court had an invisibility pill so he couldn't very well say much to what the ability of the other man's. Even if he much rather was amused by that. Something disappearing just like that.

"I would hope not," he teases slightly before leading him away from the house and off towards the park. The place would always remind him of when Xingchen helped him regain his arm, but that was neither here nor there.

"How big can you make the barrier?"

"How big do you need it to be?"

Which didn't answer the question while also answering it at the same time. Runyu gave him an amused look but still waited for the answer to his question. After all, it would be easier on both of them that way.

That did not really answer his question. Though, it did tell him a bit about Runyu's abilities. He pulls his xiao from his sash and twirls it, something that has become a bit of a habit now. It gave him something to do with his hands. More like it allowed him to keep strengthening to his right hand after regaining it.

"Big enough that it'll keep people from getting hurt or stumbling in where they shouldn't be."
