Tay said drinks were on him when all that madness in the Western Kingdom was over. Vegas wasn't about to forget that. There was a lot to celebrate, after all! Vegas and Pete eloped, Tay survived, they were all reunited, they had some solid plans for the future. They may not be able to find a club in the way Tay would like, but if the night turned into a bar crawl, would any of them complain? Wherever they landed, Vegas was sure to be buying the most expensive drinks on the menu since he's not paying.

The place had music -- nothing like they're used to, but at least it had music. Which would make for an interesting night as the longer they're out and the more champagne Vegas drinks, the more likely he is to try to drag the others into dancing (especially Pete). It may not be what they're used to, but they can still have a good time, right?

Cheng smirked at that remark. "Someone at work gifted them to me. Said that I should see what 'the other side of the time warp' was like." He had no clue what the person meant, but Cheng had kept them and found them useful enough in situations like this.

"At least they were kind enough to find the colors of my sect and silk."

"Mm," Vegas nodded sagely. "Color and texture are important."

This....actually pulled a geniune smile from him. Someone understood! Though Cheng wasn't the kind of man to go all out as Vegas seemed to, the patterned mulberry silk and bolos were intentional and preferred. Cheng liked subtlety even if his emotions were sometimes furthest from. "Thank you. If I may ask, what is traditional for your people? I've seen many desire rings but I'm from a place where courting and the three bows are sufficient to marry."

He just didn't tack on that courting was a million meetings and haggling of finances vetween families and not the choice of two people.

"Rings are more of a Western custom," Vegas mused. "It varies slightly for Thai people. Some go very traditional with the whole choosing an auspicious date, making merits at the temple before the wedding ceremony, then the groom and his family make a procession to the bride's home where they have to bribe the bride's friends and family to allow her to marry him. During the ceremony, there is a white thread ritual and a water blessing. Then the couple present gifts to their elders. That's the whole formal thing. A lot of people skip the procession and just have the marriage ceremony and a reception after."

It really wasn't too different from his own traditions and that sparked his curiosity. "Why white thread? Depending on the village, my people use red. White is generally for mourning."

A small twitch on the corner of his mouth preceeded the next statement. "Is it to mourn the death of the single person?"

Vegas laughed heartily. He liked that answer better than the actual one. "The white thread ritual symbolizes that the couple is now married for good and that they are connected to each other for the rest of their lives."

"We use red." It was nice to be out and have a conversation. For too long, he kept himself cooped up. And while these people were a little strange, their customs were similar enough that Cheng comprehended them and hey, they liked spicy foods!

He held up his glass. "A toast to you and your beloved. May you always remember that you are at each others' sides, no matter the path you take."

"Like the red string of fate?" Yeah, he's familiar with that.

Vegas smiled and clinked his glass against Wanyin's. "Remember that of your good doctor, too."

Another smile breaks on his face and he has to look away, hiding the rest of his expression as he drinks. "That is a fair toast. So are you two sneaking away for a 'honeymoon?'"

Vegas just smirked. "We don't really need one." They had their marathon wedding night. And a quickie in the bathroom during this very party. They weren't lacking for opportunities to be together, that's for sure.

"You're as bad as my brother." He had to roll his eyes for good measure. Heathens. Every single one of them. Shaking his head as if he were disappointed, he delicately sipped on his drink.

"I'm very bad," he assured.

He had to roll his eyes at that. "I do not need to know!" Shameless. Just like his brother.

Well, he didn't just mean about the sex. He's actually a very bad person. But he just laughed and didn't correct Wanyin's misconception.

"You're ridiculous. How long do you people celebrate like this?"

"Until we get kicked out or too tired, whichever comes first." He honestly has no clue what time it is at the moment. Nor does he care to know.
